**********Match Report**********

What a day! What a game. And what great support. Thanks to everyone that made the journey to support the game against Tenbury Ladies FC. Fantastic to see and hear everyone shouting and cheering. It’s always great playing against these lovely ladies, as it’s always played in the true spirit of the game. Lots of banter and laughs alongside some great football. It was pretty much deadlocked for half an hour until we changed the format and really pressed for a goal. A ball in from Colette on the wing saw Tracey control it and put neatly into the net for 1-0. Then we pushed for a second and when the ball was squared to Colette from Siobhan on the edge of the box, Colette laced it with a clean strike bottom corner. Tenbury came back at us and bagged themselves a well taken goal which made for a nervy last 15 but our defence was sterling all game. After Anna won a free kick on the edge of the box, the resulting shot was picked up and placed top corner by Di, securing the win. It was a great battle and the winner was ultimately women’s football as we all celebrated together, as always, with food and drink provided by the Barn Owl Worcester. Players player was Jill for a solid performance at the back.
So 2 years of us vets.…Here’s to many more!!! 🎉⚽️

Celebrating Two Years of WCWFC Vets

Worcester City Women Vets FC are marking a landmark, two-year anniversary, celebrating a journey that has seen them grow from a grassroots idea into a pioneering force for women’s football in the region.

The squad’s story began just 24 months ago with a simple mission: to create a space for experienced players who weren't quite ready to hang up their boots. Founded by Colette Hilson, the team started with little more than a passion for the game and a desire to fill a vital niche in the local female game, providing a dedicated space for women who have played and loved the game for years. From humble beginnings, literally turning up with a borrowed mens kit and just 5 balls for their first game, to today, the transformation is huge. The team has become a pioneer as the first of its kind across both Herefordshire & Worcestershire, quickly proving that the appetite for competitive women’s veterans' football was immense.
The team's growth hit a new gear when they officially joined the Worcester City Women FC family last year. This move brought them under the "La Familia" banner of a club dedicated to supporting women at every stage of their playing journey.
"Joining WCWFC is an exciting step," founder Colette Hilson noted during the transition. "The chance to play at Sixways and represent a club that genuinely values female players of all ages means the world to us."
The vets team competes in competitive 11-a-side friendly matches every month. These fixtures take place on the main pitch, before the first-team ladies games, and are an amazing experience for all involved.

While the football is competitive, the team is so much more than the results on the pitch. The heart of the Vets is the extraordinary camaraderie. The team provides a vital social and physical outlet for women who have enjoyed the game for decades, fostering a supportive environment where the post-match socials are as important as the scoreline.

To mark this incredible two-year milestone, the Vets will be taking to the pitch for a special anniversary game on Sunday 12th April. It promises to be a fantastic showcase of the mature talent and spirit that has built this team from the ground up.
So from borrowed shirts to stadium lights, the message is clear: the Worcester City Women Vets are only just getting started!

If you fancy coming to cheer us on against Tenbury Ladies, then kick off is at 10am. *********ANNIVERSARY GAME!*********

We are so excited to be playing our Anniversary game at Sixways Stadium on 12th April against Tenbury Ladies. Worcester City Women Vets fc is 2 years and growing! It’s been a journey and we’ve come such a long way in that time. Starting out with just a borrowed men’s kit, that was essentially XXL men’s size and half a dozen balls, to now 2yrs on, and we’ve enjoyed a wonderful season being part of the Worcester City FC Women family. Being part of their community has enabled us to provide a space for Women of all ages to play and ‘still’ be playing competitive 11aside football.
We’d love your support on this special day. If you’d like to come watch us, just purchase yourself the Ladies game ticket v Northants online. Link in comments.

We enjoyed a great game against the WCWFCintheCommunity kick & connect ladies this week. Some great phases of play leading to a good selection of goals and also some great goal keeping. The score line was 1-0 to the vets at half time but the second half saw some great strikes hit the back of the net. Overall it was very competitive and played in the true spirit of the game as always. Lots of fun, banter and all ending up together, as one group, enjoying some good food at the Barn Owl pub. Players player was Tracey D, for her calm, silky skills on the wing, seen here celebrating by creating her initial with chips!! Onwards to our next game which is a biggie. Our anniversary🎉. Watch this space for more details soon!
