Worcester City Women Vets FC

The Vets are back in action at home this weekend in an all family affair. We are playing the new Worcester City Women Community FC team. Kick off is at 10am at Sixways Stadium and we are looking forward to a big day of celebrations as the WCWFC first team are in action at 2pm. We welcome and appreciate all your support as always. Hopefully the weather will be a tad cooler than recent weeks and we can enjoy some great football.

Today was a blisteringly hot one as we played a friendly against Kempsey Phoenix Ladies FC at their ground in Kempsey.
ALL the ladies put in a shift today in this heat and we welcomed two new players to the team who were thrown in for a full game with no subs, and were amazing! Not the result we would have wanted but we go again later this month up at Sixways.
Congrats to Kempsey Ladies on their 4-1 win today and we wish them the best of luck in their season ahead.
Goals today for us was Steph Griffin and players player was our Jodie Bennett in goal, pulling off some cracking saves.

We take to the field again this weekend 9th Aug, with an away game against locals Kempsey Phoenix Ladies. We are looking forward to this game as we know they are a much improved side. The hot weather didn’t stop us all enjoying a great game this morning against WCWFC in the Community kick and connect team.
We kicked off at 11 and as the temperatures soared so did the play. Lots of really good phases of play from both teams. The vets took an early lead as Steph chased down the keeper from a back pass. The opposition created some really good attacks but our defence stayed robust and we caught them on the counter a couple more times. As the game progressed Steph secured her hatrick and Sarah got herself a brace. A well worked goal from kick and connect saw them pull one back before the final kick of the game saw Colette place a shot to the right of the keeper. All in all everyone loved it which is just the reaction you want to hear.

We go again next week against ASPIE Avengers. Kick off is at 12.30 at Worcester Uni pitch on the 12th July. Raffle tickets on sale on the day. Raising awareness and funds for both teams. We are grateful for the donation of a signed WCWFC shirt as one of the many prizes. Please come along and cheer us on.

We Vets Ladies are playing in a match against Aspie Avengers F.C. on the 12th July.
They are a team that supports adults with Asperger’s, ADHD and Autism etc.
We are all really looking forward to helping raise awareness plus some funds for both teams, as we strive to provide opportunities for all in our community.

Kick off is 12.30 at Worcester University pitch in St John’s.

We will be selling raffle tickets on the day. Prizes including a signed Worcester City Women FC shirt, a World Cup football, a hamper and cake stall to name but a few!

Please if you can, come support us all and enjoy two teams giving it their all in the predicted heat!!!

An emotional day today but good to see such a big crowd up at Sixways for the kick for a cure charity match.
Stacey Bozward was diagnosed less than a year ago with MND and we are here today to support her and to help raise funds for MND and Matt Gallagher foundation.
Sending love and strength to all those living with this life changing illness.
