The Stick Methods of Seven Star Praying Mantis
Long Pole:
The Long Pole is regarded as the foundational training method for all long weapons practice. Great-Grandmaster Wang Yunsheng, founder of the Seven Star Mantis system, learned this from an old silversmith in Nantushan Village.
Seven Star Stick:
The Seven Star Stick was taught in Dalian by Grandmaster Wang Chuanyi during the 1950's.
Cowherd Stick (Cowherd Whip Stick)
The Cowherd Stick, also known as the Cowherd Whip Stick, is another traditional form passed down by the Wang family. This is one of its characteristic postures 'Turn Right, Sit Cross-Legged and Lift the Heavens'.
Eyebrow Height Stick:
The Eyebrow Height Stick is a form which teaches the basics of the Six Harmonies Stick tradition. In 1901, Great-Grandmaster Wang Yunsheng, the founder of the style, restructured this form into its present version.
Six Harmonies Stick:
The technique known as 'Taigong Goes Fishing'. This form was originally passed down by Great-Grandmaster Wang Yunsheng, who learned it from Zhang the Silversmith. Wang Yunsheng later refined and perfected it under the guidance of Yang Jingtang.
