A tough 1-0 defeat today against Blackburn Rovers FC U18s, decided by a last-minute penalty. Despite the result, it was another outstanding learning experience for our CIS students against an established Academy side. 👏

🎙️ Head of CIS Academy Darren Edmondson said:

“Today was a fantastic opportunity for our players to test themselves against an established Academy. A big thank you to Blackburn Rovers FC for taking the time to play this fixture after spending a couple of days in the Lake District. They were a credit to themselves throughout.

I thought our lads acquitted themselves really well. It’s always disappointing to lose, especially to a last-minute penalty, but there were so many positives to take from the performance. These are exactly the types of games that help our players develop and prepare them for the next level.

We’d like to wish Blackburn Rovers FC all the very best for the future and also say a huge thank you to WAKTU for organising the fixture. It was also great to welcome some exciting talent from Workington AFC, who will be joining Cumbria Institute of Sport next year.” 🤝

Today, our 1st year students put their nutrition knowledge into practice by creating healthy, performance focused meals inspired by countries competing in the FIFA World Cup 🌍⚽️

Designed to fuel athletes before competition or support recovery afterwards, the dishes showcased both creativity and an understanding of the importance of nutrition in sport.🏆

As part of the challenge, students were also responsible for planning their meals, shopping for ingredients, and managing a budget. This helped develop valuable life skills. ✅
