🌞 When the weather heats up... so does our teaching strategy! 🌞

Last week in aerial hoop, we embraced the sunshine and switched things up a little.

Rather than pushing through an intense session, we lowered the hoops and focused on bends, flexibility, splits and beautiful shapes instead. 💛

Hot weather puts extra strain on the body. Your heart works harder to keep you cool, you can tire more quickly, and you're at a greater risk of dehydration and heat exhaustion. So instead of "just getting on with it", we adapted the class to work with our bodies, not against them.

The result? A fun, productive session where everyone could slow down, improve flexibility, refine technique, and enjoy moving without feeling wiped out. Sometimes the biggest progress comes from taking a step back and giving your body exactly what it needs.

At Luna Fitness & Wellbeing, your wellbeing will always come before ticking off the next trick. 💜 Every class is adapted when needed, because looking after our bodies isn't a sign of doing less—it's a sign of training smarter.

Did anyone else find themselves melting in last week's heat? 😅☀️ Let us know how you stayed cool below! ⬇️

The strongest thing pole ever gave me wasn't muscle.

It was the confidence to leave.

I walked into my first pole class completely alone.
I had no friends to go with.

No strength. No flexibility.

And absolutely no idea that one hour would change my life.

The truth is, I didn’t find pole because I was confident.
I found pole when I was at one of the lowest points in my life.

I was in a psychologically abusive relationship. My confidence had been stripped away, my self-worth was almost non-existent, and I had become isolated from people around me.

Then one day I saw Bendy Kate on Britain's Got Talent. Something about it fascinated me.

I wanted to try it, but...
I had nobody to go with.

So I did something that terrified me.

I walked into a local pole class alone.

That single decision changed everything.

I wasn't strong. I wasn't flexible. I wasn't naturally talented.
In fact, my students would probably find that hard to believe now, but it's true.

What I did find was a room full of supportive women who cheered each other on.

For the first time in a long time, I felt accepted.

Little by little, I started building strength.
Not just physical strength.

Confidence. Self-belief. Self-worth.

Enough confidence to finally leave the relationship that was keeping me small.

Pole didn’t just teach me tricks.

It helped me find myself again.

Eventually, I met my husband, who has been my biggest supporter and cheerleader ever since. Without him, Luna wouldn't exist.

When people ask what pole and aerial have given me, the answer is so much more than strength, flexibility, or impressive tricks.

It gave me a community.
It gave me purpose.
It gave me confidence.
It gave me a safe place to grow.

And in many ways, it gave me my life back.

I'm still not the most confident person and I battle social anxiety.
But when I'm teaching, training, sharing my passion, or watching students discover what they're capable of, I feel at home.

I feel safe.

And that's why Luna means so much to me.
Because every single day I get to help create the kind of space that once helped save me.
I'd love to know
Why did you start pole or aerial?
And what the biggest thing its given you?

☀️ HOT WEATHER & YOUR SAFETY ☀️

With temperatures set to soar, your safety and wellbeing will always come first at Luna Fitness & Wellbeing.

To help everyone train comfortably and safely, classes will be restructured with the heat in mind. We’ll be spending more time closer to the floor where appropriate, reducing unnecessary exertion, and even taking advantage of the warmer temperatures to explore flexibility and mobility work where beneficial.

Please make sure you:
💧 Bring a cold drink to every class
💧 Stay hydrated throughout the day, not just during class
💧 Take advantage of the regular rest and hydration breaks we'll be building into sessions
💧 Rinse off any sunscreen, oils, lotions, or moisturisers before class as these can make equipment slippery and unsafe

⚠️ IMPORTANT MEDICATION NOTICE ⚠️

If you take antidepressants such as Sertraline, Citalopram, Duloxetine, Fluoxetine, Mirtazapine, or similar medications, please be aware that these can increase your risk of overheating, dehydration, and heat-related illness.

This doesn't mean you can't train, but it does mean it's especially important to:
• Stay well hydrated
• Take breaks when needed
• Monitor how you're feeling
• Never push through symptoms such as dizziness, nausea, excessive fatigue, headaches, or feeling unusually hot

Most importantly, please listen to your body. There is absolutely no shame in taking extra breaks, modifying exercises, or sitting something out if needed.

Progress can wait. Your health and safety cannot. ❤️

Let's enjoy the sunshine while staying safe, sensible, and looking after ourselves and each other.

⚡️ CHALLENGE ACCEPTED ⚡️

If you've ever watched aerial hoop and thought, "That looks easy enough..." this is one of those moments where appearances are very deceiving.

A few weeks ago, our challenge was Beats to Seat — a dynamic aerial hoop skill that requires athletes to generate momentum through controlled beats, engage the entire posterior chain, maintain grip strength, core strength and body tension, then use that power to transition smoothly up into a seated position inside the hoop.

In simple terms? It demands strength, timing, coordination, body awareness, confidence, commitment and a whole lot of determination.

And our Luna students absolutely SMASHED it. 💫

What makes moments like this so special isn't just the final achievement you see in this reel. It's the weeks, months and sometimes years of foundations built beforehand. The conditioning. The failed attempts. The "almost had it" moments. The bruises. The perseverance. The decision to keep showing up and trusting the process.

Watching student after student rise to the challenge, support each other, celebrate each other's wins and achieve something they once thought was impossible left us absolutely over the moon after classes.

And if you watch closely, you'll see some of the best moments happen after the achievement. The happy dances. The disbelief. The laughter. The huge smiles. Those pure, unfiltered reactions say more than words ever could. That's what happens when hard work, determination and persistence finally pay off.

This is what Luna is all about.

Not perfection.
Not comparison.
Progress.

These incredible humans achieved a huge milestone.

And for many others watching this reel? A brand new goal has just been added to the list. 👀✨

Congratulations to every single student who accepted the challenge and conquered their Beats to Seat. We couldn't be prouder. ❤️

Same trick. Three different levels. Three incredible wins. ✨

One of the things we're most proud of at Luna is that nobody is expected to fit into a box.

You don't have to be the strongest in the room.
You don't have to be the most flexible.
You don't have to have a certain body type.
You don't have to be confident from day one.

You simply have to start where you are.

Every movement we teach can be adapted, progressed, regressed, modified, supported, challenged, or celebrated exactly where each individual student is in their journey.

Because progress doesn't look the same for everyone.

For one person, success might be trying a move for the very first time.
For another, it might be refining technique and building confidence.
For someone else, it might be mastering the full expression of the skill.

And every single one of those achievements matters.

Creating options for different abilities, strength levels, body shapes, sizes, ages, mobility levels, and confidence levels isn't about making things easier. It's about making sure every student feels included, supported, safe, and capable.

Because when people feel safe enough to try, they discover what they're truly capable of.

That's where confidence grows.
That's where strength develops.
That's where the magic happens. ✨

At Luna, we're not interested in creating a room full of people who all move the same way.

We're interested in creating a space where everybody can succeed.

Three levels.
One trick.
Countless reasons to celebrate. 🤍

🌈 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝘁 𝗟𝘂𝗻𝗮 𝗙𝗶𝘁𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 & 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 🌈

This June, we proudly celebrate 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 — but at Luna, 𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙡𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙞𝙨𝙣’𝙩 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙢𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙝. It’s the foundation of everything we do, every single day. 💫

Whether you spin, invert, dangle, or dance — 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝘁𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗽 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲. Every body. Every identity. Every walk of life.

At Luna, we’ve built more than just a studio. We’ve built a 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 — one that’s empowering, supportive, encouraging, nurturing, and above all else, 𝙨𝙖𝙛𝙚. A space where you can show up exactly as you are, and be embraced without judgement.

✨ LGBTQIA+? You belong here.
✨ Not part of the LGBTQIA+ community? You still belong here.
✨ Never touched a pole or hoop before? You 𝙙𝙚𝙛𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙡𝙮 belong here.

Because 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗮 𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀, 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄, 𝗯𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝗲 𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱. Whether you’re finding your confidence, your voice, your movement, or your people — we’re here, cheering you on with open arms (and chalky hands 😅).

This Pride Month, we honour love, identity, and the courage to be unapologetically 𝗬𝗢𝗨 — whoever that may be.

💜 At Luna, 𝙮𝙤𝙪’𝙧𝙚 𝙖𝙡𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙮 𝙚𝙣𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝 — just as you are.

This is one of those posts that reminds me exactly why Luna exists. 💙

Reading words like these genuinely fills my cup. It is such a privilege to share my passion with every person who walks through the studio doors, and I never take for granted the trust people place in me to be part of their journey. Watching students grow stronger, more confident, achieve things they never thought possible, and support one another every step of the way is what it's all about.

This beautiful testimonial comes from one of our wonderful Luna ladies .penny and I couldn't be prouder to share it:

"I’ve been doing pole and hoop for two years now, and at 38, I only wish I’d discovered aerial arts sooner. I never realised there was a space in my heart waiting to be filled by something like this. Along the way, I’ve met some of the most supportive and encouraging women, many of whom have become truly empowering and confident friends.

Personally, my journey has transformed me in so many ways — my strength has grown, my confidence has soared, and my weekly classes have become the highlight of my week. Honestly, what more could a girl ask for?

Kerry is patient, understanding, and the ultimate cheerleader, which makes her the best pole momma anyone needs. No achievement is ever too small to celebrate, and every win is met with genuine excitement and support from everyone in the class, no matter their level or experience.

The girl squad at Luna is something everyone deserves to have — and if you don’t have it yet, you need to come and find it at Luna 🌙✨💙" - Penny Mills 💕

These are the moments that mean the most. Not the tricks, the photos, or the achievements themselves, but the friendships, confidence, support, laughter, and community that grow alongside them.

Thank you for being part of our Luna family. 🌙✨💙

💛 A Special Plea for Help 💛

This is Rocco.

Rocco is just 4 years old. After becoming increasingly unwell and struggling with his breathing, doctors discovered a mass in his chest that was crushing his lungs and windpipe.

He was rushed to Manchester Children's Hospital where further tests revealed the devastating diagnosis of T-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma leukaemia (T-cell ALL).

Rocco has now started treatment and faces a long two-year journey ahead.

Despite everything they are going through, Rocco's amazing parents, Lisa and Luca, want to raise funds for the hospital ward caring for Rocco and so many other children like him.

The money raised will help provide toys, games, costumes, garden equipment, blinds and other items that bring comfort, smiles and support to children and families during some of the hardest days of their lives.

We're hoping to organise an incredible raffle and we need your help.

If you own a business and could donate a prize, know someone who does, or think your employer may be able to help, please get in touch.

Every donation, big or small, will help us raise more money for an amazing cause and make a difference to children who need it most.

Please comment below, send me a message, or share this post to help us reach as many people as possible.

Thank you 💛

“Wait… you can do THAT on a hoop?!” ✨🖤

A little look at one of the flows we worked on in class recently 🫶

One of the things I love most about our classes at Luna Fitness and Wellbeing is that everyone can work at their level while still feeling part of the same class and community.

Our beginners and mixed level students explored versions of the same flow, adapted to suit experience, confidence and ability — proving you do not need to be “advanced” to start creating beautiful movement sequences 💫

You’ll also notice some students choosing to spin while others stay static.
In hoop, that choice is always yours!

And for Tara, spinning is a HUGE achievement 🥹👏
If you’ve ever tried spin hoop, you’ll know it adds a completely different challenge — control, orientation, confidence and trust in your body all come into play. Seeing progression like this is exactly why I love what I do.

Classes aren’t about perfection here.
They’re about: ✨ building confidence
✨ trying new things
✨ celebrating progress
✨ supporting each other
✨ and surprising yourself with what your body can do

Whether you want to spin, stay static, build strength, improve fitness, gain confidence, make friends or simply try something different… there’s space for you here 🖤

And yes… beginners are ALWAYS welcome 🌙

✨ REGRESSION IS NOT FAILURE ✨

One thing we don’t talk about enough in flexibility training… regression.

The moment you realise your split isn’t as flat as it was a few weeks ago.
Your backbend feels tighter.
Moves that once felt easy suddenly feel harder.
Your body feels different.

And do you know what?
That is NORMAL. ❤️

Progress in flexibility is rarely a straight line. Life happens. Stress happens. Hormones, sleep, work, illness, energy levels, hydration, emotions… our bodies respond to ALL of it.
Some weeks you feel bendy and unstoppable.
Some weeks your hamstrings say “absolutely not today.” 😂

Regression does not erase your progress.
It does not mean you’ve failed.
It does not mean your body is working against you.

Sometimes your body is simply asking for patience instead of pressure.

The beautiful thing about flexibility training is this: Your body remembers.
Your strength returns.
Your mobility comes back.
And often… you come back wiser, kinder to yourself, and stronger mentally than before.

At Luna, we don’t celebrate perfection.
We celebrate showing up.
We celebrate listening to our bodies.
We celebrate the comeback just as much as the achievement itself. 🌙✨

So if you’ve been feeling frustrated lately because your flexibility journey feels “backwards” — this is your reminder that temporary regression is still part of progression.

Keep going.
Your comeback might be closer than you think. 💜

These 2 photos are of me doing needle scale — one during the height of Covid when I was stretching regularly, and the other from this weekend’s stretch workshop.

Yes, there’s regression. But there’s also proof that I’m still showing up. And I know with more commitment and consistency, I can improve again. ✨
