Good evening, the recent weather has made fishing conditions challenging at times but those who are venturing out and giving it ago are finding some good fish are on the feed and with a more favourable weather forecast for next week why not get the rods out and give it a try.

Here are Worthing high tides times for the week ahead:

Monday 8th June: 05:01 (4.8m), 17:44 (5.0m)

Tuesday 9th June: 06:07 (4.7m), 18:46 (5.0m)

Wednesday 10th June: 07:12 (4.8m), 19:47 (5.1m)

Thursday 11th June: 08:13 (5.0m), 20:44 (5.4m)

Friday 12th June: 09:11 (5.3m), 21:38 (5.6m)

Saturday 13th June: 10:07 (5.6m), 22:30 (5.9m)

The weather for much of the past week has been very windy with plenty of cloud and rain and the sea has been coloured and choppy, at times rough. At this time of year when strong onshore winds occur this results in w**d being an issue but its seemingly not effecting all venues so check before your fishing trip.

Conditions have been ideal for Bass and there have been some decent catches locally with good numbers of fish caught over 4lb. In these conditions the low tides can often fish better than high tides especially if there is a surf. Bass have been caught throughout the region, but Brighton does tend to see better quantities of the larger fish. Lure fishing will be worthwhile once the sea calms and clears out as clarity is not good presently.

There have been a few good Smoothounds caught although the recent weather has meant not so many anglers have been fishing the beaches which obviously means reduced catches but Worthing Pier, Shoreham Harbour can be worth targeting them whilst there is colour in the water. A few Hounds could show this week from the beaches with smaller tides and hopefully less w**d.

Last weekend saw some Tope appear whilst the sea conditions were ideal for them with fish to over 40lb landed. Best areas are around Selsey plus Bracklesham always is a worthwhile venue to target them plus some spots in Hampshire are known to produce Tope.

Other fish caught locally include Dogfish, small Bull Huss, a few Silver Eels and some Pout.

Due to winds and coloured seas during the past week there have been a lack of the usual smaller summer species, but they will return once the weather settles and sea calms and clarity improves. When conditions return more favourable expect plenty of Black Bream, whilst there will be a few Gilt Head Bream, Gurnards, Mackerel, Mullet, Garfish all likely to figure in catches.

A few more Undulates have been caught last week along with the odd Thornback Ray. Fish are of a mixed size from small to the odd near double. Stingrays are likely to still be present but not much to report as it has not been ideal conditions for them to usually feed.

Last few tides when the winds have eased slightly has seen a few flatties caught with a mixture of small Plaice, Flounders, Dabs and Sole. Shoreham Harbour and Brighton Marina can produce fish to worm baits and the beaches between the two venues can also fish well when the sea is settled. Sole numbers should increase and are usually caught in darkness though can be caught in daytime when the water is dirty.

It has been ideal conditions for Congers with mainly straps being caught although there are the occasional bigger fish being caught. Structures such as the Marina, Harbour and Pier are all worth trying when the sea is coloured and choppy.

Good evening, despite the hot weather recently the fishing is still producing some good catch reports with increasing numbers of Smoothounds caught locally, plus there is a good variety of species showing both big and small so plenty for anglers to target so why not get out and give it a try.

Here are Worthing high tides times for the week ahead:

Monday 1st June: 00:22 (5.7m), 12:46 (5.6m)

Tuesday 2nd June: 00:56 (5.6m), 13:24 (5.6m)

Wednesday 3rd June: 01:29 (5.6m), 13:58 (5.5m)

Thursday 4th June: 02:02 (5.5m), 14:34 (5.4m)

Friday 5th June: 02:38 (5.3m), 15:12 (5.3m)

Saturday 6th June: 03:19 (5.1m), 15:55 (5.2m)

For most of the past week the weather has been hot and sunny with light winds although during the weekend the winds have picked up slightly bringing cooler temperatures.

Smoothounds feature heavily in catches locally with fish showing up at the usual venues in the west plus good numbers of fish were caught at Lancing, Shoreham and Eastbourne mainly on the evening high tides. If the water colours up with any winds Hounds should show during the day and be more widespread. Fish up to around 13lb have been caught and to a variety of baits. When conditions are favourable a Tope could be a possibility at Selsey or Bracklesham. Dogfish are still about but not in the quantities of a few weeks back.

Bass catches are improving with both sizable and undersized fish being caught to both baits and on lures. Depending on venues different baits can be more successful than others with crab picking out some of the better fish with worms generally catching the smaller fish. Lure fishing has accounted for fish at low tide around both dawn and dusk whilst some venues tend to fish better around high tide. Depending on venues live baiting can work especially from the Marina, also Worthing Pier has plenty of Sand Smelt shoals and often fishing a live one can produce a few fish though most are generally Schoolies with the odd sizable.

Black Bream continue to be caught throughout the region in good quantities with venues such as Widewater and Selsey producing good reports. Dependant on the venue Black Bream can often feed better on the night tides whereas some venues can fish better on the day tides. Generally small baits and size 4 or 6 hooks will improve your hook up rate. Also, a few Gilt Head Bream have been caught recently.

A few Stingrays have been caught during the past week although other beach users have made beach fishing awkward whilst the weather was hot and sunny. The best recent fish was a superb one of 60lb. During the summer months smaller Stingers can show especially between Goring and East Preston and often are present till September whereas the bigger fish tend to move off soon. There are also other species of Rays to be caught locally including Thornbacks and Undulates and even the occasional Small Eyed have appeared.

When the weather is calm and the water has good clarity summer species such as Mackerel can show, unfortunately they do not seem to be in numbers or show as regularly compared to years gone by, but best chance would be dawn or dusk from either the Marina or Harbour. Garfish are another species which seem to be in decline in recent years with only the odd one caught from Worthing Pier so far. Brighton Marina can and has seen some good Wrasse to 3lb caught along with a few Po***ck fishing down the side of the walls. Mullet are regularly seen in decent size shoals and Goldies could be possibly caught from Kingston Beach and around Shoreham whilst other species of Mullet are worth targeting from the rivers and structures such as the Marina.

There are still flatties to catch locally with the area between Shoreham and Brighton probably the best spots to try with a mixture of small Plaice, odd Flounders, Dabs and Sole. Worm baits generally are best baits to use especially red rag and black lug.

Many of the Congers being caught presently are straps although this week saw a big one caught from Brighton Marina and generally the better Eels in summer do tend to be from around the Marina although never discount Worthing Pier when the sea is rough and coloured.

Good evening, firstly we hope you are enjoying both the bank holiday weekend, warm and sunny weather, and hopefully getting some fishing in. There is still a good variety of species worth targeting locally both big and small and plenty to keep the rod tips rattling and with more nice weather predicted plus evening tides approaching there should be some good fishing on offer so why not get the rods out and give it ago.

Here are Worthing high tides times for the week ahead:

Monday 25th May: 07:26 (4.8m), 20:00 (5.2m)

Tuesday 26th May: 08:27 (4.9m), 20:55 (5.3m)

Wednesday 27th May: 09:20 (5.1m), 21:44 (5.4m)

Thursday 28th May: 10:07 (5.2m), 22:27 (5.5m)

Friday 29th May: 10:50 (5.4m), 23:08 (5.6m)

Saturday 30th May: 11:30 (5.5m), 23:45 (5.7m)

After a brief spell of unsettled weather at the start of last week this weekend has seen the sun return with light winds and increasing temperatures. With a bank holiday weekend, the beaches have been extremely busy with sunbathers. W**d has not caused too many issues this week and with dropping tides next week should be fishable from most venues.

Smoothounds have continued to be caught throughout the region especially when the water had colour midweek with fish caught both during the day and at night with crab the best bait although they will be caught on other baits too. Fish showed from venues including Worthing Pier, Bognor, Aldwick and Pagham. When the water clears the night tides will produce more fish usually. Although there have been occasional fish to around 12lb the big packs of Hounds have not arrived yet but should do within the next few weeks. Tope should soon make an appearance from marks around Selsey.

Conditions have been ideal for Stingrays in the last few days, but beaches obviously have been full of sunbathers making some spots hard to fish. The occasional fish has been caught in darkness and evening tides next week should see fish caught at dusk with venues from East Preston in the East to Selsey in the West all possibly holding Stingers. Other Rays are also showing regularly including both Thornbacks and Undulates. Thornbacks are more widely spread and caught both in East and West Sussex whereas Undulates do tend to be caught more in the West and a nice fish of 13lb was caught from Worthing Pier midweek.

Other species of summer fish are being caught with some superb Wrasse of around 3lb from Brighton Marina, Mackerel should appear from the Marina and Harbour with dawn and dusk best, and Garfish are about but numbers certainly down on previous years. The Marina can be worth casting a squid jig in the right conditions with a few Cuttlefish and Squid caught most of a good size. Various species of Mullet have been spotted in big shoals but very few caught recently.

Black Bream remain quite prolific still and are frequently caught both during the day and at night and depending on venues fish can show at different times of day. Spots like Selsey East Beach, Brighton Marina are the most reliable areas to target Black Bream.

Lure fishing for Bass could be worthwhile at venues with good water clarity with early mornings and evening sessions usually accounting for reasonable catches. Schoolies are showing to worm baits and crab baits have accounted for some sizable fish. Depending on venues live baiting can work especially from the Marina.

There are Flatfish to be caught with Shoreham and Brighton still seeing fish showing but Plaice average sizes are down with smaller fish moving in. Flounders are still randomly caught along with a few late Dabs and Sole numbers should increase.

Other species caught include plenty of strap Congers with the occasional bigger fish from the Marina, Dogfish, Bull Huss, odd Silver Eels, Po***ck and Pouting.

Good evening, the fishing locally is still producing some very good fish but does seem very localised with plenty of fish in some areas yet lean in others so success is down to fishing the right areas at present, there are some of the bigger species regularly being caught mainly towards Bognor westwards and some venues are producing many different species per day such as Brighton Marina but hopefully the fishing will continue to improve all along our coast so why not get out and give it a go.

Here are Worthing high tides times for the week ahead:

Monday 18th May: 00:31 (6.3m), 13:01 (6.2m)

Tuesday 19th May: 01:19 (6.2m), 13:55 (6.1m)

Wednesday 20th May: 02:10 (6.1m), 14:51 (6.0m)

Thursday 21st May: 03:05 (5.8m), 15:49 (5.7m)

Friday 22nd May: 04:05 (5.4m), 16:47 (5.5m)

Saturday 23rd May: 05:10 (5.1m), 17:50 (5.3m)

Last week saw a couple of days of brisk south westerlies with heavy showers and thunder and lightning and the sea briefly coloured inshore waters for a few tides before clearing out again. W**d is more noticeable, but majority of venues are still perfectly fishable.

Stingrays continue to be caught locally with fish showing mainly from the usual venues from Climping through to Pagham with a mixture of size fish ranging from 4 to over 55lb. Some decent Undulates have shown again from the west of the region mainly around Bognor, Pagham and Selsey whereas Thornbacks are slightly more widespread and they will show from East Sussex as well with Hove, Seaford and Eastbourne worthwhile venues to target them at night.

Deeper water venues such as Brighton Marina have offered the greater choice in summer species on offer with Mackerel, Wrasse, Po***ck, Bass and Congers all being caught through the weekend and it’s a venue which is also producing some decent sized Squid and Cuttlefish.

Last week saw more Smoothounds caught with fish to 13lb caught though most fish are in the 5– 9lb range. As yet they are showing at many venues but not in the massive numbers which can show. Again, the best of the fishing seems to be from Climping through to Selsey. Some Dogfish showed last week at times when the water briefly coloured along with the odd small Bull Huss. Tope should soon make an appearance from marks around Selsey.

Black Bream are frequently being caught and shoals seem widespread through the region and again some venues are seeing fish showing only in darkness whereas other spots tend to fish better in the daytime. Beaches have seen good catches, and they are also likely from the Marina and Harbour.

There has been sizable Bass caught to both lures and baits during the past week or so along with some smaller School Bass. Different tactics work at different venues depending on sea conditions and if there are other bait fish present. Lure fishing tends to produce best results fishing either dawn or dusk.

Anglers wishing to target flatfish will find plenty of Plaice are still showing from the Harbour and Marina, but this includes a lot of small fish although there are still sizable fish in amongst them. Flounders have shown randomly to worm baits and Sole can show at night with Shoreham to Brighton areas which are likely to see them caught.

Other species caught recently include plenty of strap Congers with the occasional bigger fish from the Marina, odd Silver Eels, Pouts, and there are Mullet about although not seemingly caught on rod and line yet.

Prime Angling usual opening times are 8am till 5pm Monday to Saturday and 8am till 4pm Sundays. Good evening, the fishing locally is still producing some good catches despite the winds coming from the east and the water being clear but with night tides approaching hopefully the fishing should produce some more great reports with species likely to include Smoothounds and Rays where as the daytime tides will continue to see the smaller summer species so why not get the rods out and try your luck.

Here are Worthing high tides times for the week ahead:

Monday 11th May: 06:56 (4.4m), 19:36 (4.7m)

Tuesday 12th May: 08:04 (4.6m), 20:36 (5.0m)

Wednesday 13th May: 09:00 (5.0m), 21:26 (5.4m)

Thursday 14th May: 09:48 (5.4m), 22:13 (5.8m)

Friday 15th May: 10:34 (5.7m), 22:58 (6.0m)

Saturday 16th May: 11:21 (6.0m), 23:43 (6.2m)

With winds coming from the northeast for much of the past week the sea at times has been very clear with calm seas although the wind increased at times briefly through the weekend and added a bit of colour to the water’s edge.

Conditions have not been ideal for a lot of species, but they are perfect for Stingrays and more have continued to be caught during the last week with usual venues from Climping to Pagham all worthwhile areas to target them from to baits such as king rag and crab. Thornbacks are still frequently caught with Bognor, Hove and Seaford producing fish plus there are Undulates showing mainly from Climping to Selsey.

Smoothound catches continue with mixed sizes of fish showing from very small up to the occasional double. The big packs have yet to arrive but Bognor, Pagham and Selsey have produced the best catches of better sized fish. It should not be too long before the odd Tope may make an appearance from around Selsey.

Black Bream are widespread through the region with some venues seeing fish frequently showing only in darkness whereas other spots tend to fish better in the daytime. Selsey East Beach, Pagham and Brighton Marina are all worthwhile venues to target Black Bream.

The calm conditions during the week and with good water visibility allowed vast shoals of Mullet to be spotted locally in the shallows from the beaches and in the rivers.

Bass fishing is slowly improving with plenty of Schoolies about plus a few sizable fish. Lure fishing has accounted for a few at times mainly fishing low water on either the early morning or evening tides wading out.

Plaice are still showing along with a few Flounders, increasing numbers of Soles plus the odd Dabs with venues between Shoreham and Brighton the most productive. Worm baits and casting at range can improve catch rates from the beaches.

Brighton Marina is still producing a steady flow of Cuttlefish and Squid, but they are not in the numbers which are likely later in the year but at present they are decent sized.

Other species reported recently in local catches include a few Mackerel, Garfish, Wrasse, Silver Eels, Pouts, Dogfish, Gurnards plus some strap Congers are showing at night.

Prime Angling usual opening times are 8am till 5pm Monday to Saturday and 8am till 4pm Sundays. Daiichiseiko Gunplier + Holster

This is a wicked addition from this years trip , Daiichiseiko do some top quality tools and some fall into the quirky catergory aswell which this one certainly does.
As with all Daiichiseiko these are exceptionally well made and function flawlessly also the mechanism on the plier end doubles up as a locking mechanism to stop them falling out of the holster when not being used.
A brilliant bit of kit for the wading angler 👌
