Tech's not all bad but it's good to talk about the pros and cons with our kids. ✅❌

Regular ongoing conversations help their understanding of the digital world and how to make smarter choices. We can empower them to be more in control.

Creating a little friction - like turning off auto-play - can help us all to pause and be a bit more intentional about our tech use.

If it's binge worthy and my little one's asleep then I'm probably going to choose to watch the next episode anyway! Loved Black Doves on Netflix.

What digital world conversations are you already having with your kids or what would you love help talking to them about? 💬⬇️

Big feelings need big empathy! ♥️ When your kid is having a tantrum, meltdown or a big upset, empathy and the right words can make a huge difference.

It's just about recognising their feelings and reflecting this back to them in words. We can guess how they're feeling and why they're feeling like this.

"You seem sad. It's raining and you really wanted to wear your sandals."

"It looks like you're disappointed. You really wanted to eat biscuits for breakfast."

"It sounds like you're frustrated. You really wanted to do your zip up yourself. It's hard when you can't."

Our understanding helps them to find their calm.

🎉 Exciting News! 🎉

I'm really excited to share the new name for my business: Head and Heart Parenting!

Choosing the right name has taken a lot of thinking. I think Head and Heart Parenting truly reflects me, my approach, and what parenting is all about.

🌟 Head is the thinking, the reflecting, the noticing, and the adapting.
It’s the approaches, tools, and techniques that help us parent with intention and thoughtfulness.

❤️ Heart is the connection, the empathy, the love, and the understanding.
It's showing up authentically, being vulnerable, and embracing the emotional journey of parenting. It's the warmth and compassion that build strong, trusting relationships with our children.

Head and Heart Parenting represents the balance I strive to bring—supporting you with practical tools, approaches and strategies that enable you to feel confident and connected in your parenting journey. A balance of thinking and feeling.

Thank you for being part of this journey with me. I'd love to hear what you think about the new name!

A new habit: just one page a day. 📖

Since having my little one, I’ve stopped reading for pleasure - something I’ve always loved to do. Instead, I’ve been spending too many evenings scrolling when I’m tired. So, I’m starting small: just one page a day.

It’s not about willpower or motivation. It’s about making it so easy I can’t say no. One page is manageable, even on the most exhausting days. Research shows that small, 1% changes can lead to big results over time.

What book do you recommend I add to my reading list this year?

🩷 Thanks to the families who have trusted me to support their parenting journey, what a massive privilege that's been. 🩷

Thanks also to everyone who's been cheering me on and supporting me this year as I start out on Instagram. I'm very fortunate to have such amazing friends and family. I'm really grateful that I have such wonderful people in my life.🫶✨💖

Here's to a new year and all the possibilities ahead. Happy new year! 🥳

Hope you’re finding and enjoying those little perfect moments —they’re what make it all worthwhile. 💕

We're all full of colds here but we're enjoying some lovely moments together. I've read 4 Pip and Posy books x 3 times each this morning cuddled up on the sofa with my little one and we've been grazing on cheese and crackers.
It's not all perfect but there are some little perfect moments 🥰

Christmas provides loads of opportunities to rewire our brains and become calmer and more patient versions of ourselves. I kept thinking about this when I was in Tesco Extra on Saturday with my parents and toddler and hundreds of other shoppers 🛒 🤣

Breathe, laugh and avoid Tesco Extra. You've got this!

Wishing you all a very peaceful and relaxing Christmas! 🎄 If screen time sometimes causes upsets in your house then it’s totally worth investing a little time setting some clear and kind boundaries during the holidays.

Here's my example script for you to adapt:

“We want to make sure you have time to relax and enjoy some screen time over Christmas and also it’s important that there’s time to connect and do fun activities together.

You can use screens in the kitchen or the lounge. We’ll keep bedrooms screen-free.

You can have up to 60 mins of screen time after we’ve had breakfast and walked the dog.

There might be some exceptions, like if we watch a Christmas film together or play a family game on the console. There will be some times when we're all going to be screen free. We'll let you know when those times are.”

A little planning can make a big difference (to our sanity). Wishing you all a Christmas full of connection and calmness! ✨💖

If you want more help with managing screens, DM me. I can help.

🎄 “No No No! Merry Christmas!” 🎄

Do you find it hard to say no? Tell me in the comments! 👇

Anyone else feeling a bit of festive stress yet? 🙋‍♀️ 🎅✨ So much to do! It’s so important that we find some time for ourselves and for our families amidst all the wonderful plans and events.

Sometimes it can feel a bit uncomfortable to say no, but it’s important to keep some time protected by not saying yes to everything. It's okay to say No No No! 🎅 💖

Sibling squabbles driving you a bit mad? Telling them what not to do doesn’t work—but descriptive praise does! 🧡

RAVE is my way of helping parents and carers remember how to use descriptive praise effectively. I decided that there just weren't enough acronyms in the world so I added another 😂 Families do seem to find this helpful though!

You can use it spotlight the behaviors you want to see more of:
✅ Recognise: "I just saw Henry hit your arm quite hard."
✅ Action: "Even though you were annoyed, you didn’t hit back."
✅ Value: "That showed a lot of self-control."
✅ Encourage: "That took a bit of effort and I’m impressed!"

Catching these moments helps build their confidence, encourages positive habits, and strengthens sibling bonds over time.

Descriptive praise is one approach that works wonders, but there are also other strategies to help ease sibling rivalry and create more peace at home. I offer 1:1 sessions tailored to your family’s unique needs—whether it’s sibling dynamics or another parenting challenge.

🌟 Ready to try it? Save this post to reduce sibling squabbles.

Share your favourite acronyms in the comments!

Kids (and grown-ups too) can find it so hard when others say hurtful things to them or pick on them. Teaching our kids that we don't have to believe or hold onto mean words and nasty comments can help them to feel stronger. 💪

This is just one approach to 'bully-proofing' suitable for kids aged between 5 & 12. You can adapt it. Building resilience takes a mix of strategies and it does take time. Totally worth the effort though as let's face it, it's an important life skill. Small steps like these add up! ❤️

Hope that the script and game are helpful. ✨
