Worthing Cricket Club

Milestones seem to be like buses! And this is a triple decker! Jack has reached 300 not out in the appearances tally. Jack is a tremendous cricketer and a true team player, it is always a pleasure to see him step out with a Worthing shirt on, we know he will give his all for each second of the game. Thank you Jack and keep going!

The Play Cricket era has given us access to more stats than ever before (whoop!) which does mean our younger players who have built their careers through our juniors and into senior cricket have some great numbers to show off.
Harry is a wonderful example of this as he has now completed 200 games for the club. With bat and ball and in the field he has been an outstanding player for years and we look forward to many more!

Yesterday was a big Saturday for all our teams and Henry played a vital part in a big win for the 1st XI. Batting on an incredibly difficult wicket he helped get the team over the line for 30 points and in the process took himself past 1000 runs for Worthing CC!

On the 17th of May we posted that William had scored his thousandth run for the club. Well, yesterday, 97 days later and playing for the 4th XI he scored his maiden league century and in the process took himself over the 2000 mark!
He’s now scored 1124 runs this season across junior and senior cricket 🏏

SJCF under 16s
Our u16s closed a fabulous in style with a well earned win. Having finally won a toss they elected to bowl and with all 10 fielders having a chance to turn their arm over the wickets were well shared around and 185 was the target.
Their batting started well and at 102-3 we found ourselves with Harry Clapp and William at the crease. In a partnership of 83 William reached the landmark of 1000 runs for the club this season, Harry notched up another 50* with the last ball of the game which saw him finish the 3rd highest run scorer in the competition and with the highest average of the week an amazing 249 and a strike rate of 91.54!!!
Thank you to all the players who conducted themselves so well over the week and to all the parents, grandparents, teammates etc who took time out to help and support the team

SJCF day 16
The final game this year for our under 16s is a trip to regular opponents Eastergate. This is a fixture we always look forward to but the first time we’ve played Festival cricket so it’s a real treat to end the week there.

Tomorrow is the last Saturday we have 4 league fixtures! The 4s will close out their season with a home fixture against Aldwick so please do come down and show them some support if you can.
Our other three teams each have big games on as well so it’s a big day for the club. Keep your fingers crossed for all the players turning out for us.

SJCF Day 15
The under 16s hosted Haywards Heath today. It was another game played with wonderful spirit by both teams which produced a hugely enjoyable day for everyone involved.
Batting first Harry and William put on an excellent partnership of 126 which was broken when William fell on 54. Harry batted on to agonisingly finish on 96* at the end of our 42 overs.
In the field the team played with attacking in mind but Haywards Heath won the game with 4 overs to spare.
The boys will finish their week away to Eastergate tomorrow.

Our under 16s had a great home match yesterday against Horley CC. The whole game was competitive and played in great spirit, so, despite coming second it was a thoroughly enjoyable day.
The undoubted highlight for us was Harry’s 101*. Having opened Harry took a short break after his abdominal protector was called in action but he returned and batted with great maturity and patience to record another 100 for the club.

This one nearly slipped past us but Thomas has joined our Worthing 1K club and in the pretty rapid time of 45 innings. His runs are great, his curry teas are exceptional so we’re looking forward to more Mohan!
