An evening kick off in the PC cup against Storrington today. Storrington are in the same league as us, so we were expecting a pretty even match up. As it was we were the better side on the day. Winning on 3 rinks, and only losing on the other rink by 2 points. Our final score 80-55, which means we go forward to the next round and meet Petworth at home. Game to be arranged.

After a week of canceled games, we actually played this afternoon- a WSBL match against Bognor B away. Bognor had a real problem getting a team together and only managed to field a weakened side. After 4 ends the result was never in doubt and we won on all of the rinks 8-0, 88-26. Commisserations to Bognor though, who kept at it until the final end.

Our third Brodie game this week, on a very windy afternoon at Goring Manor. The last 3 ends played in a heavy shower, but the match was already won for us by then. 9-1 and 86-47, with the pair of Dave Sargent and Andrew Simmons winning top rink at 28-8! .

This afternoon we met Shoreham in the Brodie away at Buckingham Park. In the corresponding fixture last year Shoreham beat us 10-0 and this time we got our revenge. Worthing pulled away on all rinks and we won 3-1, 81-54 only loosing one rink on the final end. Dave Sargent and Jim Walmsley won top rink in the pairs, 24-8.

A couple of games so far this week, one home and one away. On Wednesday we played Goring Manor at home in the Stracey,; with the temperature hovering in the high 20's it wasn't a good start to the afternoon and we finished the game losing on 2 rinks, drawing 1 and winning 1, losing overall 71-60. We had a much better game and result on Friday against Lancing in the Brodie- another warmish day, we found the green more to our liking, winning 2 and losing 2. with our pair of Simon Edwards and Russ Jennings have a great 26-19 win helping in our 6-4, 69-61 victory.

Week 1 of our West Sussex Bowls league. Our first game away at Aldingbourne on their artificial surface- our first visit to Aldingbourne and our first game on carpet for a year. As expected it didn't go well, and we lost on all 3 rinks- the only high point of the day were the lovely home made cakes after the game. Saturday we played Pagham at home with more success, winning on two rinks and gaining top score, on the hottest day so far this year. Our green was still challenging but a a bit quicker than last week and we even had bowls in the ditch!

Sunday afternoon and our much anticipated PC cup game against Pulborough from West Sussex Bowls league 1. We got a result, winning 71-56, with a high score on 2 rinks and a low score on the other 2 rinks. Russ Hallett won top rink with John Williams Terry Doubleday and Ron Bewley. Congratulations to all who played and we're all looking forward to our next round match against Storrington.

Five games this week. Game 2 and 4 were against Marine Gardens in the Brodie and Stracey. In the Brodie we lost 68-57 and 8-2 away, and at home on Saturday in the Stracey we won 7-3 and 66-52. Jim Walmsley skipped the top rink with Dave Sargent Debbie OʻMahoney and Eric Jackson winning 21-13. On Thursday we had a friendly against Portslade at home in the rain- 8 ends were enough before we called it a day, and went in for hot drinks. Not a bad start to the season, winning a couple and losing a couple. Bring on warmer weather !!

A slow start to our season do far. Saturday we played our annual Captains v Presidents match. Teams were selected out of a hat and our President had the lucky draw coming out 52-32 winners. This week is a busy one with a couple of friendlies a Brodie and Stracey game, both against Marine Gardens and our PC cup against Pulborough on Sunday. Mondays game was a friendly against Goring Manor on 4 triple rinks. Rain stopped play after 12 ends but Worthing had done enough on 3 rinks to secure a victory- 42-34. Thanks to Gorings Chris Wood for bringing a team and sticking with the rain.
