I was reading the Daily Oath and the depth of it's true meaning struck me. I had to write a short paper on it. However it became three papers. This is the first:

• Speech

Most people are taught to fear being wrong or instinctively fear being incorrect to protect ego.
From a young age, ignorance is framed as failure — something to hide, defend against, or mask with confidence. In public life, this becomes even more dangerous.

Admitting uncertainty is seen as weakness. Changing your position is framed as inconsistency. And so, people learn to protect their image instead of correcting their understanding.

This is where political failure begins.
The first two lines of this oath are designed to break that pattern at its root. They do not begin with policy, power, or ideology. They begin with the mind — with how a person relates to what they do not know.

Because if a person cannot admit ignorance, they cannot learn.
And if they cannot learn, they cannot serve the public honestly.

• Core Aim

To establish the mental conditions required for truthful politics by redefining ignorance as a neutral starting point and embedding the duty to update belief and policy when presented with better reasoning or evidence.

The Paired Mechanism (Verses 1 & 2)
~ 1. “Ignorance is only the absence of knowledge. That is simply an opportunity for learning.”
~ 2. “If someone can change my mind, I can change my policy.”

These are not separate ideas.
They are a single mechanism with two stages:
~ Stage 1 — Remove the barrier
