Garden Tasks for November
The storms of the past few weeks have striped the trees of many of their leaves. Clear up the fallen leaves from lawns, beds and ponds.
Wind and rain are on the increase so tender plants will need protecting from frost, gales and freezing rains. Move plants into the greenhouse, or into a sheltered spot, but if you can't, it is worth wrapping plants or pots.
Remember winter can be a tough time for birds in terms of water and food, so keep supplies well topped up.
There's still time to plant daffodil bulbs and other spring flowering bulbs for a magnificent start to next years display.
Plant tulip bulbs now to prevent Tulip Fire infection.

If you are new to tomato growing here are a couple of jobs for July.
Pinch out tomato side shoots each week.
Cut off any leaves growing below the lowest ripening fruit trusses to improve air circulation and prevent diseases.
Boost your tomato crop by regularly feeding them with dilute tomato fertiliser once a week. If leaves look pale and yellow feed more regularly.

Throughout July make the most of your display by deadheading your plants. This means removing flowers from plants once they have died.
By dead-heading bedding plants and perennial plants you will stop them self-seeding and it will encourage further flowering.
Dead-heading your roses will keep them looking tidy. However if your rose produces attractive hips (seed pods) leave the flowers in place and enjoy.

Cutting back growth in hanging baskets can encourage new flowers and foliage and will revive the display. Make sure you that feed your baskets well after doing this.
July has arrived, a month that is often one of the hottest months of the year. A great time to sit out and enjoy your garden. Keep plants looking good by regularly dead-heading, and you'll enjoy a longer display of blooms.
