Under 15s away against Saltney Town FC

Our lads headed to the border on Saturday for what was expected to be their biggest test of the season so far against a strong Saltney side tipped by many to be favourites to get out of this league.
The Dinas welcomed back Will Howard to the squad but were still without Mihail Tanase and were also given the blow of losing Brandon Penman late on too.
What followed was a classic befitting any Chester v Wrexham derby over the years!!
The game got off to a frantic start with Saltney grabbing an early lead, immediately pegged back by a goal from the in form Ollie Burrell, soon after Saltney retook the lead and soon enough just after Burrell notched again to draw us level. At this point the game looked like it could go on to be 10-10!!!!
Dinas rode the storm and the torrential rainfall to dictate the play in midfield and get a stronghold on the game, Rylan Powell dropping deeper to play Burrell in twice more before half time to see us into a 4-2 lead.
Manager Frank got the lads together at halftime and stressed how hard they would need to work for the second half and what followed was a dogged and well disciplined performance to see the game out and record a famous victory , one of the best since the lads have been together !!
Fantastic performances from all the lads who started and came on to freshen things up in the second half !!

Final Score : Saltney Town 2 Dinas Wrecsam 4
🏆Player of the match🏆🏆 a really tough decision for the coaches but Ollie Burrell again awarded it for his four goal performance but coach Frank remarked that any single one of the lads would have been a worthy winner!!

Under 15s Athletics away against Mynydd Isa Rangers in the league

The lads started on fire as within the 1st minute Riley Valentine found himself in the box one on one, only to be foiled by the keeper!

A good 15 minutes from the lads saw us having lots of possession but without creating any clear cut chances.

On 20 minutes, just like in the midweek game, we found oursevles 1-0 down despite having most of the possession.

Shortly after, still being on top in the game, a ball played into the box deflected towards a Mynydd Isa player, who handled it.

Roger Hughes stepped up to make it 1-1 and 2 from 2 penalties for him this season.

It wasnt long after the penalty, Robin Spinks went down the left hand side, cut across the defender and pulled the ball back to Matthew Jones who passed it into the bottom corner to make it 2-1.

Looking comfortable going into half time and putting on a solid first half performance away from home was taken away from us when a kick from their goalkeeper bounced twice heading towards our goal. With no attempt to attack the ball from our lads, the Mynydd Isa striker ran onto it to make it 2-2 on 39 minutes.

The goal just before half time must have knocked the stuffing out of our lads as what was to come second half was night and day performances of halves!

Second half we huffed and puffed in the final third but didnt give their keeper much to do.

Although Mynydd Isa didn’t test Dan in our goal too much either, on 70 minutes they scored. Not closing down outside the box, a long range effort from the Mynydd Isa player, going in. This turned out to be the winning goal making it 3-2.

A rare off day second half from the lads, where as a team we were not at it and didnt create any real chances on goal.
Final score: Mynydd ISA 3 CPD Dinas Wrecsam 2

🏆Player of the match🏆 went to captain Isaac Edwards, a good first half performance and one of the better players in a lackluster second half performance.

We go again next game with another tough assignment, this time against last season's League 2 side Halkyn Utd.

Our Under 8s put on a fantastic display of football this weekend against a strong Brymbo Lodge side. From the very first whistle, both teams showed great energy and played the game with huge smiles on their faces.

Only the 1 win but some solid defending also earned 4 clean sheets!

🏆Players of the Matches🏅
Brody and Phoebe for their improvement over the last few weeks and solid defending which contributed to the clean sheets. Well done both 👏🏼🟢🔴⚫️⚽️⚽️

A bit late posting but well done Alfie!!

Under 15 Athletics August Player of the Month:

⚽️⚽️🏆🏆Alfie Andrews🏆🏆⚽️⚽️

August saw us prepare for the start of the season with 4 tough games against Bellevue, Dinas Wrecsam U15s, Lex XI and Llay Utd U14s.

Coming out of these games with credibility was Alfie.

Although giving us an extra option up front at times, Alfie showed his importance in defence in these games being outstanding in all 4.

Well done Alfie!🟢🔴⚫️⚽️⚽️🏆

⚽️⚽️⚽️Midweek Roundup⚽️⚽️⚽️

On Wednesday, the Under 13s travelled to Hope for their second of three midweek fixtures in September.
The boys started the game brilliantly, looking bright and energetic from the start, and quickly raced into a 2–0 lead, with both goals coming from David.
Unfortunately, we were unable to build on that fantastic start. Credit to the Hope players, who responded strongly, grew into the game and managed to level the score at 2–2 going into half-time.
Hope carried that momentum into the second half and added two more goals to take a 4–2 lead.
The boys then showed great character and fought hard for the remainder of the game. Alfi pulled a goal back to make it 4–3 and set up an exciting finish. CPD Dinas Wrecsam threw everything at Hope in search of an equaliser but, unfortunately, lacked composure with the final pass and in front of goal.
At the other end, Osian had to remain alert, as Hope were dangerous on the counter-attack and created some excellent opportunities to extend their lead. Once again, Osian was in top form, making a couple of outstanding saves to keep us in the game.
Despite the result, there were plenty of positives to take from the game, particularly the character shown by the boys as they continued to fight for an equaliser right until the final whistle.
Final Score Hope Dragons 4 Dinas Wrecsam 3
Goals: David ⚽⚽, Alfi ⚽
Assists: Finn 🅰️
🏆The Player of the Match award deservedly went to Osian, earning the accolade for the second time this season. His outstanding saves were crucial, while his distribution and ability to start attacks for CPD Dinas Wrecsam were once again of the highest quality. 🟢🔴⚫️⚽️⚽️⚽️

⚽️⚽️⚽️Midweek Roundup⚽️⚽️⚽️

Our Under 15s are enjoying another great start to a season which continued on Wednesday night at Graig Lane against a stubborn and well drilled Borras Park Albion side.
A really slow and sluggish first half from the Dinas who struggled against BPAs energy and commitment , we did well to get into the changing rooms at nil nil, a couple of smart saves from Ollie Randles keeping the yellows off the scoresheet.
Whatever the coaching staff put in the half time tea must have done the trick as the lads came out with a much more disciplined approach , moving the ball quicker and winning our individual battles.
Nolan Collett picked the ball up and drove forwards before sending Ollie Burrell clear who deftly lobbed the oncoming BPA keeper, 1-0!!
Ten more minutes passed then before we took the game away from Borras with two quick goals , Burrell again finishing smartly before full back Seb Taylor went full Gareth Bale and ran from his own half right round the back of the defence cutting in to finish well for the goal of the game!!
Torran Whitfield then send Rylan Powell through one on one and the inevitable outcome saw him notch in his fourth consecutive game.
As the darkness drew in the lads saw it out and maintained their 100% record.
Final score:Dinas Wrecsam 4 - BPA 0

🏆 Player of the match - Ollie Burrell, continued his fine start at the club, pressed when heads were down and took his two goals well🟢🔴⚫️⚽️⚽️⚽️

⚽️⚽️⚽️Midweek Roundup⚽️⚽️⚽️

Our three older age groups were in action on Wednesday night, at Court Road our U15 Athletics took on the Celts of Coedpoeth FC.

A good start from the lads had us having lots of possession and attacks early on but with no end product. This cost us, as on 20 minutes we went 1-0 down.

A corner from Matthew Jones on 33 minutes fell to Archie Bond in the box, who swivelled and smashed it in, to make it 1-1. This being the half time scoreline.

Half time team talk was about our decision making being better in the second half to make our possession count.

We started brightly and Matthew Jones was first to try his luck, with a mazey run down the left beating numerous players, cutting inside and rattling the bar with a long range effort.

Not long after Matthew was rewarded when Owen Hughes found himself in space down the right, putting in a perfect ball for Matthew to come onto for a great first time finish to make it 2-1.

As we pressed for a third goal, a through ball from Isaac Edwards put Owen Hughes in for a one on one with the keeper and no messing made it 3-1.

Full of confidence the lads kept pressing and debutant Tyreece Osho picked the ball up midway in the Coedpoeth half and drove forward. As he reached the edge of the box he released a powerful strike into the bottom corner to make it 4-1.

Well on top with possesion, the ball fell to Isaac Edwards on the edge of the box and he put a dangerous through ball into the box catching a few defenders off gaurd, it fell to Owen Hughes who slotted it in for 5-1.

A great second half from the team and Matthew and Owen, who both had great games combined to make it 6-1. This time, Matthew returning the favour to Owen, who he found on the right hand side of the area where he again made no mistake in scoring to claim his hat-trick.

A good result on the night and although Owen scored a hat-trick, Matthew pipped him for Player of the Match with his goal, 2 assists and overall dangerous play which even the referee commented on after the game!
