A tough one to take as Bolton struck late to take all three points, but there’s plenty for the lads to be proud of from our first league game of the season.

Matty Whilding gave us the lead in the first half, before Bolton levelled and an incredibly hard-fought contest went right down to the wire. In difficult conditions and plenty of heat, every single player dug deep, worked for each other and, most importantly, stuck together as a team from first whistle to last. 💪

The result didn’t go our way today, but the performance showed exactly what this group is about. We win together, we lose together, and we keep moving forward together. ❤️🖤

Congratulations to Steff Hughes, our Man of the Match after a superb performance. 👏

Matty Whilding opened the scoring, converting from a corner to give CPD the lead, before Bolton responded from a corner of their own.

Nothing separating the sides at the halfway mark — 45 minutes to go and everything still there for the taking. Keep pushing, lads!

Today, Wrecsam Resilience FC stands with everyone affected by su***de. Men continue to account for around three-quarters of su***de deaths in England and Wales — a statistic that reminds us why talking, checking in and looking out for one another matters so much.

Football and physical activity can be more than just exercise. They can provide routine, connection, friendship, belonging and a space where men can talk without judgement.

We’re delighted to announce that The New Inn Johnstown will become the front-of-shirt sponsor of our CPD Wrecsam Unedig side for the upcoming season! 🔴⚫

A proper local pub backing a proper local football club — you really can’t ask for much more than that. The New Inn sits right in the heart of Johnstown and offers a welcoming atmosphere, great drinks, live sport, pool & darts and a large beer garden — so there are plenty of reasons to pop in for a pint. 🍺⚽🎯

Supporting grassroots and wellbeing football makes a massive difference to what we’re trying to achieve at Wrecsam Resilience FC, so we’re incredibly grateful to everyone at The New Inn for getting behind the CPD lads. Their name will now be proudly worn on the front of the shirt throughout the season. ❤️🖤
