Match report
The game started off with pace and intensity which lasted all match, with that a little break in play which was a corner that Stretford Paddock put away into the roof of the net
An early lead with about 10 mins in opposition were 1-0 up, as more time went on we found ourselves 2-0 down to a good counter attacking goal coming down the flank of our defence, a wake up call again for us and slight change of personal to deal with things better seen us get back into the game with a clever ball in behind too Peter who was a massive threat all game who went 1 on 1 with the keeper and slots it in top corner, after practising on his finishing past 2 weeks definitely shown it today
Half time blows the boys trail 2-1 but the energy and the desire to win was there as the boys were getting behind eachother at the half time team talk with words being said by them to there teammates which was good to see
Be on the front foot was one of the main points at half time and we did that very well, in the first 40 seconds or so Town drawn it level to a brilliant well worked goal but unfortunately got chalked off for offside! Still 2-1
Similar to his last goal Peter got in behind again from some good forward play and again took his goal well
2-2 now and the boys are egging eachother to find a way to win with the same encouragement on the sideline the game was there to be won
Some time after our second we get a freekick from deep, Alfie send it into the box and after a header from an opposition defender went up into the air, Oliver was the first one to react as it was a race to the ball from him and the GK but he got up and very smartly flicked it over the GK and Into the net for the comeback from 2-0 down!! 2-2
Game wasn’t finished yet tho as the game went on the more intense the match became, Stretford work it well down the flanks again with their number 11 who was good all game he’s whipped the ball into the box and their forward as touched it onto the bar with a scrappy moment in the box it’s come out on the penalty spot and the boys are defending like warriors clearing the ball, as we clear it, it has fell towards Stretford and he’s set it up lovely for a shot that looks like was going to really test John (Our GK)
Peter comes flying out of nowhere sliding to block the shot, an uproar from the players as they run over to him, showing passion and spirit to celebrate with him but the boys had to switch on as Stretford had a corner which was defended and cleared away
Game was even at this point Town being smart at what we were doing winning fouls, slowing the game down, also making fouls to stop attacks the boys had there clever head on
Yasan and Ashley found themselves a couple of times in behind after the chaos but unfortunately couldn’t put the game to bed as it could’ve came back to haunt us
But it didn’t and the boys digged deeper and grinding out the result, a performance that brought us together well played to them👏🏼
Final result 3-2, a win on the board for Wythenshawe Town
POTM- *Oliver*, one of his best games he’s played whilst being with us and also getting his first goal for the club and what a time to get it 🙌🏼
2nd POTM- could’ve went to absolute anyone but *Luc* from word go shown energy, commitment to loose balls, chased a lot down when we needed that bit more he gave it us and was good in attack and a nightmare for defenders with pressing and giving them no time
