Confident in transition play wanting to dribble when gaining space aggressive in chasing the loose ball and winning it back off opponents.
Clever feet in the box to get a penalty as well as scoring.

Although rusty many moments of magic in the game. Need to work on defending crosses as we conceded 4 goals from the same scenario. Trainining will be implemented to cover this. Proud of their responses and work rate hopefully with full squad returning next week we should see a positive scoreline.

Jakub started the game on the bench after being away all summer. But once he got his chance he was the stand out performer by far in a tough defeat which ends our cup run at the first hurdle.

Manager comments on the game:
Our cup run ends in 7-3 defeat at home. Not the worst start to the game as it was pretty even Steven’s for the first 10-15 mins.

Same story once Woodley pulled away scoring 4 goals before the half time break. The foxes heads dropped. Same story in the second half even though we got a couple of goals back we couldn’t take control and pull the game back to a draw before Woodley took full control and seen the game out for a big win.

The foxes were miles off it today. Not aggressive enough to hold off the opposition and not hungrier enough to win it back and make something happen.

A great start to the new season. Passing was a joy to watch. Very solid defensively and each player giving it there all. Players very selfless around the area looking for a pass rather than always taking the shot. Overall very pleased with the performance and really looking forward to the season with this great group of players 🦁

KEY EVENTS
Competitive debut for our brand-new Wythenshawe Town U9 Jambo’s team, with several players making their first competitive appearance.
The boys started shakily as first-match nerves got the better of them, conceding three early goals.
The team settled into the game during the second third and began to play some really promising football.
Kobe hit the post with an excellent long-range effort.
A dangerous cross from Kobe on the right found Harri in the box, but he couldn't quite get the finish away. Josh could have scored as well were it not for some good defending from the opposition.
The boys continued to push forward and attack in the final third, showing great determination despite tiring themselves out.
Unfortunately, we conceded a couple more goals while pushing for more.
Kobe finished the match in style with a fantastic long-range strike into the top corner — without a doubt the Goal of the Match! ⚽🔥

A fantastic performance from Kobe, who showed plenty of confidence and determination throughout the game. He was a constant threat going forward, hit the post with a long-range effort, provided a great cross for Harri and capped his performance with an outstanding strike into the top corner.

SUMMARY ANALYSIS
A difficult opening result, but there were plenty of positives to take from the Jambo’s first competitive outing.
As a new team with new players playing together competitively for the first time, it was understandable that the boys started with some nerves. After conceding three early goals, though, they showed great character and gradually grew into the game.

The second and final thirds saw some really promising football, with the boys becoming more confident, creating chances and trying to play on the front foot. They worked incredibly hard against a well-organised FC Bluestar side and continued to attack even when tired.

The result wasn't what we wanted, but the effort, attitude and determination from every player was fantastic. Most importantly, the boys showed plenty of promise for the future.

We're incredibly proud of every single one of the lads. This is only the beginning of the Jambo’s journey, and there is plenty to build on! 💙⚽

Wythenshawe town u13 magpies vs Avro FC

KEY EVENTS
Started a bit rusty, after no training for 6 weeks, we were Missing 3 players today mainly defenders and only had 1 sub who was unwell so had a lot of players playing out of position although they showed great versatility and made it work to the best we can. It Was a close first half 2-2 for majority. Other team just seemed to gain the winning edge, Going into half time 3-2 down. Had a team talk half time on what we can do to improve and came out 2nd half looking much better. Although we didn’t get the win the boys implemented the advice given, came out in the second half strong, played with passion, and never gave up right till the final whistle. Some super goals thanks to Ryan(2) & Jayden(1)

PLAYER OF THE MATCH: JAYDEN
Jayden played out of position today in defence as we were missing 3 defenders. However, you wouldn’t have noticed, he was solid, strong and showed real sportsmanship. He tracked back when he needed to, he covered when he needed to, put in some really good tackles, and he intercepted most of the their attacking play, he always stayed calm and picked the right passes to help us keep hold of possession. Jayden also scored a brilliant goal from his own box straight over the top of the keeper!
Well done Jayden!

SUMMARY ANALYSIS
Although we got beat, it Wasn’t the worst defeat although we acknowledged we could have done better and it’s definitely gave us something to work towards in training, noticing where we can improve. Very proud of The whole team for not giving up and staying positive right till the end. We come back stronger and hopefully with a full squad next week!

The truth is out there

Not everything with “academy” in the name is a professional academy.

That doesn’t automatically make it bad. Plenty of private coaching setups do good work.

But parents should know exactly what they’re paying for.

Is it genuinely linked to a professional club?
Is there a recognised pathway?
Or is it simply additional grassroots coaching marketed as something more?

There’s nothing wrong with extra training.

The problem comes when the label creates expectations that aren’t really there.

Sometimes the best thing for a young player is much simpler:

Play regularly.
Enjoy football.
Keep developing.
Let the rest take care of itself.
