There is nothing booked on the AGP today so it’s available to the general public to hire 👍 also mini golf, and pitch and putt are open if your at a loose end with what to do with the kids .

It’s play day here today so if your attending site please use the athletics arena car park which is free and located on Pickett lane as well, we have limited space in our main car park.

Yeovil Recreation Centre Unveils New Energy-Efficient LED Floodlights

The team at Yeovil Recreation Centre is delighted to announce the completion of a major lighting upgrade, with new state-of-the-art LED floodlights now installed at both the artificial pitch and athletics arena.

Specialist contractors Direct Sports Lighting worked tirelessly over the course of a week to deliver the project, carefully planning the installation to minimise disruption for athletes, clubs and other facility users.

Ashley Smalley, Activities Officer at Yeovil Recreation Centre, said:

“The new lights look fantastic, and we’re excited to see them in action during the darker months later this year, when the improvements in light levels will be most noticeable. The LED fittings provide a more focused beam with significantly reduced light spill, helping to improve the user experience while also reducing our environmental impact.”

The project will not only enhance the quality of the facilities for local sports clubs and community users but will also deliver long-term energy savings through improved efficiency.

Councillor Roy Spinner, Chairman of the Leisure and Environment Committee at Yeovil Town Council, said:

“This is an excellent project to have completed as we head into the summer holidays. It means that, from this autumn, our clubs and community groups will benefit from even better facilities, while the centre’s energy consumption will be reduced.

“We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Yeovil and Sherborne Hockey Club and Yeovil Olympiads Athletics Club for their generous contributions towards the scheme. It is wonderful to see organisations working together to improve and futureproof these important community facilities for the benefit of residents across Yeovil.”

The investment reflects Yeovil Town Council’s ongoing commitment to maintaining high-quality sports and leisure facilities, ensuring that local clubs and residents can continue to enjoy modern, sustainable and accessible venues for years to come.

Please when visiting the park if rubbish can’t be placed in the bin ( broken beach tents for example ) and excess rubbish, please take home and dispose of there. And also a reminder that this is a non alcohol site.
