CHAMPIONS!!!!!!
The team wrapped up the league title on Sunday with their sixth successive victory.
As has been the case in every game this season, the Ladies batted first, and thanks to significant contributions from Alice (41), and Robyn (48 not out) they were able to post a competitive total, finishing on 136 for 4 from their 30 overs.
Another excellent performance in the field followed as Kat and Robyn removed Harrogate's dangerous openers before they had the chance to inflict any serious damage. Ava then entered the fray and helped herself to 4 more wickets (she now has 9 from just 3 games) and debutant Maisie capped off an excellent display in the field with a fantastic run out.
The icing on the cake came right at the end as Maisie took the final wicket in her first ever over in senior cricket (having progressed through the age groups at the club all the way from under 9s) to complete the victory and see the girls crowned champions of North and East Yorkshire in their debut season in this league.

The team face perhaps their biggest challenge of the season this Sunday as they host a strong Harrogate Cricket Club Women/Girls side.
After 5 consecutive victories the reward for a sixth will see them crowned champions of the East Yorkshire Womens Hardball League at the first attempt.
Go well ladies!!!

A comprehensive victory over Goole Town CC means the ladies remain top of the league.
Strong contributions throughout the batting order, including a second 50 in a row for Robyn, and significant scores from Alice, Bex and Kate saw the side post a commanding total of 205-3.
Kate, Alice and Robyn all completed excellent individual all round performances as they got among the wickets, assisted by some wonderful keeping from Gabby who took 2 excellent catches to bowl Goole out for 108 in reply.

The team are sitting pretty at the top of the league after a comprehensive victory over Sessay at the weekend.
Unbeaten fifties from Robyn and Alice led the way as the ladies posted a huge 197 for 4 from their 30 overs.
An immaculate display in the field proved too much for the young Sessay batters as they were bowled out for 47. A superb 3 wickets on her first appearance of the season for Riya, backed up by 2 wickets each for Kat, Alice and Mia.
Well done to all involved!

Huge congratulations to our top order batter Kate, and resident scorer Sophie who tied the not this weekend.
Typical of Kate to not even let her wedding day stop her playing a bit of cricket!!!

A great start to the league season as we win our first game convincingly.
A fantastic innings of 65 runs off 53 balls by Alice set the side on their way to an imposing total of 176 from our 30 overs.
Driffield never threatened to get close to our total thanks to an excellent team effort with the ball and in the field, including an excellent 6 wickets for Mia, as they were bowled out for 122, giving the team a 54 run victory.

Heartbreak for the girls yesterday as they lost a thriller against Harrogate Cricket Club Women/Girls in this years ECB U15s T20 competition.
The girls battled hard with the ball to keep the Harrogate total down to a difficult, but not insurmountable 132. Unfortunately, despite the girls putting in a superb effort with the bat, we fell an agonising 8 runs short and exit this year's competition at the first hurdle.
Best of luck to Harrogate for the remainder of the competition.

13/05/2023

After two consecutive weeks of weather related cancellations, the women and girls season finally gets underway this weekend as our Under 15s head to Harrogate CC for the first round of this years ECB T20.

Unfortunately the ladies first game of the season fell victim to the weather today.
Hopefully things brighten up over the next fortnight before the ladies next game away to Driffield.
