Wing Chun enhances the mind-body connection & encourages the student to become more aware of their own and their opponent's energy, promoting increased sensitivity and control. Correct stance, weight distribution, practicing one-legged form and kicking techniques help improve balance.

Wing Chun Kung Fu enhances the mind-body connection. The student becomes more attuned to what is happening with the mind and body. Being mindful to our internal weather patterns and focussing the mind on the technique being trained, the student learns to switch off from or quieten their mind talk. This is one way in which the art helps us reduce stress.
The first form, Sui Lim Tau (little idea form) enhances the student's ability to relax the muscles and the mind and become more present in the moment. Again this helps to reduce stress.
As the student becomes more proficient in the art, their confidence in their ability to defend themselves (and their loved ones) also increases. This, in turn, generally leads to a greater sense of self esteem.
After a period the art stops being just a hobby or past time, it infuses into other parts of the student's life, encouraging them to use their skills to benefit others.
When the seas of life are stormy, you need something to anchor you and keep you afloat. Wing Chun can provide stability in uncertain times 🙏

Last night we did some work on Bat jam dau (eight cutting broadswords) - one of the most advanced forms in Wing Chun. It takes considerable work to learn the form and become fluid with the sword techniques. We also worked on some applications from the empty hand forms. Great session again!
Today marks the first day of the Chinese New Year...2022 is the Year of the Tiger and is associated with bravery, courage and strength. Predictions say those born in the Year of the Tiger, Dragon and Monkey are set for a bumpy year.

Another awesome class. Fantastic to see familiar faces as well as welcoming new ones. The main theme of the class was Dan chi sau (single sticking hand), reconnecting with some fundamental principles - basic techniques, good positions, sensitivity and speed of reaction - followed by some Wing Chun pole techniques including a couple of challenging strengthening exercises. Good work everyone!

The theme of the class tonight was striking with "gun lik" (hard) energy using pads and body armour. I think we burned quite a few calories between us! This session helped students to appreciate just how devastating Wing Chun techniques can be if used in a real situation...and recognising the need to exercise caution. Well done everyone. Great to see you all.

Super session tonight and great to welcome a couple of new students to the class! The theme of the night was learning some new and efficient self-defence techniques and exploiting certain pressure points that control and/or restrain the attacker without necessarily damaging them physically. Everyone really got stuck in. Fantastic work everyone. Looking forward to our next session.
