York Quiz Society

Calling all Quiz Societies,

We are happy to announce that a Spring Northern Novice will be happening in King’s Manor (YO1 7EP), here in York! This tournament will be Novice difficulty, and will be taking place on Saturday, February 24th.

In terms of eligibility, this Novice tournament is geared towards beginners to QuizBowl. Societies should make their own judgments as to who can and cannot (or should not) play. As a guideline, players who have performed well at previous Novice tournaments should ideally not play in this tournament.

In terms of fees, there will be a £60 entry fee for each team. However, there are certain discounts: £5 off the total for bringing along a functioning buzzer set; and £25 off for bringing along a moderator. The minimum payable entry fee is £30.

There will be a field cap of 12 teams for this event. If it becomes necessary, A-teams will be prioritised over B- and C-teams from the same university.

For our final event of this term, we're running our own pub quiz-style event!

Come down to ATB/042 in the Seebohm Rowntree Building in Alcuin for a 7:30pm start - non-society members welcome too, so you're welcome to bring guests! Snacks and soft drinks provided, BYOB, and while the event is free for members of the society, it is £1 for non-members (cash only). See you there!
