Ripon Ladies Stay Unbeaten with Another Brilliant Sunday

Ripon Ladies made it another unbeaten Sunday with some fantastic cricket, and it's safe to say we've really found our groove. Confidence is high, and it's showing in every game.

Our bowling was more accurate keeping the wides down and regular wickets putting the pressure on the opposition. Shout out to Liv who produced some of the best bowling all season. With the bat, everyone played positively, striking the ball brilliantly and helping us put some excellent scores on the board.

The best part is that everyone is contributing, whether it's with bat, ball or in the field, and the team spirit is better than ever. We're loving our cricket at the moment, and we can't wait to do it all again next week!

For their last match of the season, the U15 Raiders travelled to Harrogate for a tense finale.

Ripon won the toss and elected to bat however Harrogate quickly had them on the ropes with Ripon being 7/4 after the first few overs. Some quick runs from both Maxwell and James saw the total creep up and when Josh dug in to steady the ship, Ripon managed to creep to a final total of 76 all out.

With such a low score for Harrogate to reach, it looked like it would be an early finish for the boys. However Ripon's bowlers started even stronger than Harrogate's did with the openers Jack and Maxwell both claiming wickets in their first overs, leaving Harrogate 5/4. Their next partnership dug in until the breakthrough came from Oliver's slower ball, removing Harrogate's top two scorers. However Ripon's low total in the first innings proved to be the difference between the sides and Harrogate came out the victors with a couple of overs to spare.

A disappointing finish to what has been an amazing season for the Raiders. But they should all be very proud of what they have achieved as this is a team mainly made up of U14s and U13s, playing against some much bigger and stronger lads.

A big thank you must also be made to John Inglis who is stepping down as coach of the Raiders. John has been involved in their training since the lads were playing in the U9 age group and he will be missed! Roll on 2027!!

Ripon Ladies Take Their First Steps into Hardball Cricket

Ripon Cricket Club's women's section celebrated a fantastic milestone last week as the squad took to the field for their very first hardball match in an inter-club development game.

With a mixture of excitement, nerves and plenty of enthusiasm, players embraced the challenge of making the step up from softball cricket. The match provided the perfect opportunity for everyone to experience the hardball game in a supportive and encouraging environment, with the emphasis firmly on learning, developing skills and, most importantly, enjoying themselves.

A huge thank you goes to everyone who helped organise the fixture and supported the players throughout the evening. If this first experience is anything to go by, there are plenty more exciting hardball nights ahead for Ripon Ladies.

Ripon Ladies had the pleasure of welcoming Knaresborough ladies last night to Sharow for a bit of summer evening cricket. Lots of fantastic cricket on display and great support for all those playing. Thank you to Darren for umpiring and coaching as always.

The U15 Rhinos managed to win their first game of the season in their penultimate outing when chasing down 115 to beat Pannal in a late night thriller.

A side which is largely made up of U13 players have performed valiantly this season but have often just come up against bigger, and not surprisingly, stronger teams.

Pannal won the toss and chose to bat and as has often happened this season, both Arthur and Albert produced tight opening spells, with Arthur picking up the first wicket. The first change bowlers, James and Reece then ramped up the pressure, with James, making his debut for the Rhinos, striking twice in his first over and Reece also picking up a wicket.

Pannal limped to 52-5 before the giant came in and in no time began to repair some of the damage, with the sixth wicket contributing 48.

The game could have got away from Ripon but they fought back valiantly in the last few overs, restricting Pannal to 114-7 with Reece getting another wicket and James ending up with 4-15. A great spell. Special mention for a great catch off Gibbo, too.

When it came to the batting Ripon were indebted to Isaac. He stood up to some quick bowling with aplomb, scoring quickly on his way to 44 from 48 balls. He had some support from Albert who clubbed 16 off 16 but when they were out Ripon still needed 13 off two overs. Reece kept a calm head hitting a couple of fours before JJ came in to his the winning runs.

Apologies for the late report!!! Last Thursday evening saw the U15 Raiders take on Kirk Deighton U15s in their penultimate match of the season.

Ripon won the toss and elected to bat first. A new opening partnership of Luca and Benji saw the Raiders get off to a steady start, with Josh coming into to score an unbeaten 52 not out after the first wicket fell. With both Henry and Oliver also getting runs, the Raiders finished their innings on 161/3.

Ripon started their bowling innings strongly with quick wickets from both Reece and Rex. More wickets followed from Charlie and James, with both Reece and Charlie ending up with 3 wickets apiece. Kirk Deighton finished their innings on 69 all out. It was an excellent all round performance from the team.

The Raider's last match of the season is away against Harrogate Cricket Club U15s where with a win, the Raiders can finish in the top three!! Excellent work from all of the boys considering the team is mainly made up of U14s and U13s. Watch this space for 2027!

Tonight saw the U15 Ripon Raiders return to winning form with an 8 wicket win at Beckwithshaw.

Ripon won the toss and elected to field. The innings started well with the opening bowling partnership of Luca and James taking 5 wickets between them. The remaining wickets were shared between Benji with 2 and Jack K, Jack I and Charlie getting 1 apiece. Beckwithshaw finished their innings on 74 all out.

The Raiders started their reply strongly with both Jack K and James batting confidently. When the first wicket was lost, Charlie came to the crease and scored 40 no off 33 balls. Jack K remained unbeaten on 18. Ripon reached their target with 8 overs to spare. Well done lads!!

Seven Wins from Seven as Ripon's Women & Girls Enjoy a Perfect Sunday!

It was a memorable day for the women and girls of Ripon Cricket Club, with every team in action returning home unbeaten in a remarkable clean sweep of seven victories from seven matches.

The day began at Beckwithshaw, where our youngest Rebels took part in their second Roses Festival. The progress this group has made was clear for all to see as they produced three outstanding performances to secure victory in all three of their matches.

Confident batting, well-timed shots and excellent communication between the wickets kept the scoreboard moving throughout the morning, and in a fantastic achievement the team completed the festival without losing a single wicket. Their bowling and fielding were equally impressive, with every player demonstrating the hard work they have put in during training. Wickets came in a variety of ways, including some excellent bowling, sharp catches and alert run outs, making it a wonderful display from the youngest Rebels.

Meanwhile, at Ouseburn, the U13 Rebels were playing their final league fixtures of the season and were determined to continue the winning momentum. They did exactly that, recording two victories from two games with another outstanding team performance.

With several younger players stepping up to U13 cricket, there was every reason to expect a challenge, but you would never have known it from the confidence and maturity they showed. Strong individual batting performances were backed up by a disciplined and cohesive bowling attack, ensuring a thoroughly deserved pair of victories to round off an excellent league campaign.

The perfect day was completed in the afternoon as the Ripon Ladies took to the field. Inspired by the success of the younger Rebels, they were determined to finish the weekend in style and did just that with two impressive wins from two matches.

It was another complete team performance, featuring powerful batting throughout the order, accurate and economical bowling, athletic fielding and some outstanding catches. Every player contributed as the Ladies capped off a special Sunday for women and girls' cricket at Ripon Cricket Club.
