A sunny morning at Ripon saw the quarter final of the U15 ECB Vitality T20 Cup between the Ripon Raiders and Harrogate.

Ripon won the toss and decided to field first. Some tight bowling from Maxwell and Oliver, some impressive catches from Rex and 3 wickets from the demon spin of Jack K, Harrogate were pegged back to a total of 125/9 from their 20 overs.

Ripon started their reply confidently with quick runs coming from both Thomas and Josh. But a lull in the middle order meant that Ripon started to fall behind the required run rate and only Maxwell was able to add some more quick runs before the match finished with Ripon falling 33 runs short.

Despite the loss, it was a good team performance from the lads and bearing in mind they only have one actual U15 player, it will be good to see them in the competition again next season when the majority of the team will be at the higher age limit. Well done!

Another win for the U9s!

Finally faced with sunshine to play cricket, Ripon arrived at North Stainley and won the toss. Having proven their ability to chase down a total this season, they won the toss and elected to field first.

Our bowling was straight throughout, but faced with some defensive batting from North Stainley, wickets were very hard to come by today. Our only breakthrough was an excellent ball from Phoebe who cleaned up the batsmen by hitting middle stump. We were tight in the field with Oscar making several great stops to restrict North Stainley to 266 for 1.

Facing a chase of same total as Wednesday in our last game, Fraser and Edward got us off to a great start, not losing a wicket and putting on 15 runs. Keshav and Phoebe continued that trend and we reached 227 at the half way point. Austin and Oscar then had the freedom to accelerate our scoring from a solid base and brilliantly took us to 251 with just Olive and Elliot left to bat. With more excellent batting, we passed the required total with around an over to spare. Standout performances with the bat from Austin (15 inc two fours and a six) and Elliot (21 inc three fours and a six). We finished on 275-2 and won by nine runs.

A great all round team performance from the Ripon Development team at home against Studley today. Some good batting from James and George saw Ripon get up to an impressive 146-8. In the field the team worked hard to restrict the Studley batters, Ava picking up 3 wickets and 2 from Charlie, there was also a great catch, a run-out and some tight bowling from Shaurya (which earned him player of the match) along the way to well deserved win. Well played all and thanks to the Studley team and supporters for helping to create a great atmosphere throughout the afternoon.

Two of our U9's had the amazing experience of walking out with the South African and Australian Women's T20 World Cup teams yesterday for the national anthems ceremony. A memory that will last a lifetime, what an incredible day!

Ripon Cricket Club was proud to host the Yorkshire Cricket Foundation's Catch the Spirit Picnic on the Pitch Festival during the half-term break, celebrating the excitement of the Women's T20 World Cup 2026 being hosted in England.
The festival brought together people from across the local community for a fantastic day of cricket, entertainment and family fun. With food trucks, face painting, music and a variety of cricket-themed activities, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

Women's festival cricket, walking cricket and dedicated girls' cricket sessions provided opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to get involved, try cricket for the first time or develop their existing skills.

The day concluded with what was undoubtedly the most colourful game of cricket ever played at Ripon Cricket Club. It was a fitting finale to a wonderful event and, as the photographs demonstrate, everyone embraced the occasion with enthusiasm, laughter and plenty of colour. Fortunately, it all came out in the wash!
Events like this are only possible thanks to the support and dedication of so many people. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Lacuna Sports, Norton's Deli, Indian Spice, DJ Henry, U3A Walking Cricket (Ripon and Knaresborough), Bilton Ladies, Knaresborough Ladies and Girls, and, of course, the many volunteers from Ripon Cricket Club who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make the day such a success.

The support received from across the club and the wider community was truly exceptional. The festival was a fantastic celebration of cricket, community and the excitement building ahead of the Women's T20 World Cup 2026. Most importantly, it inspired new people to pick up a bat and ball, have a go and discover everything that cricket has to offer.

Two wins in two weeks for the U9s!!

Last week, the U9s played away against Bishop Monkton with several first time appearances for the side including Phoebe, Travis and Oscar J. Fielding first, we took wickets throughout but with some strong batting on show, Bishop Monkton posted a very competitive total of 270. Chasing the total down was going to be a challenge but with the all of the team on a mission to avoid losing wickets and take the 'cheeky singles' where they could, Ripon went past the required score in the final over. A great game played in a fabulous spirit with Bishop Monkton which somehow dodged all the rain and was dry throughout!

This week, we played Helperby in what turned out to be another thriller. Helperby batted first and only lost two wickets in scoring 266. With a mostly changed side for Ripon to get as many playing cricket as we can, the team ethos shone through and it was another victory in the final over as a boundary with two balls to go saw us pass the total needed. Some fabulous bowling from Nicholas and Aaron and batting from Edmund and Elliot, made the difference. A special mention to Douglas on his first performance for the side this year who was excellent with bat and ball. Like the week before, losing very few wickets is what ensured we came out on top against a friendly Helperby side.

Onwards to North Stainley next where we hope to keep the run of wins going!

U11 Risers – 11-a-Side Match Report
3rd Match (Home) vs Kirk Deighton – 10/06/2026

The Risers won the toss and elected to bat first.

It was a challenging start to the innings, with the team losing wickets in the opening three overs. However, the Risers showed great character and resilience. Oliver and Vedant batted confidently, putting pressure back on the opposition with some quick scoring. Jay then played a superb unbeaten anchor innings, retiring after guiding the team brilliantly through the middle overs. Valuable contributions from Esme, A***n, Olivia, Aria and Monty helped the Risers post a competitive total of 101.

Kirk Deighton made a strong start to their chase, but the Risers responded with determination and energy in the field. The team battled hard throughout the innings, keeping the contest alive until the 19th over before eventually falling short against a strong opposition side.

There were several positive moments during the fielding innings. The Risers were unfortunate on two occasions, with chances narrowly missed when the bails stayed on following Aria's delivery and during Monty's run-out attempt. Esme, Rory, Vedant and Krithic each claimed a wicket through accurate and disciplined bowling, while A***n bowled well and was rewarded with a run-out in his over.

Although the result did not go our way, there were many encouraging performances and plenty of fighting spirit on display. Every match provides valuable learning opportunities, and the team continues to develop and improve. We have identified a few areas to work on, particularly in the field, and these will be a focus during our upcoming training sessions.

Well done to all the players for their effort, teamwork and positive attitude throughout the match.

Ripon Ravens Shine with Outstanding Team Performance

Ripon U11 pairs produced a fantastic all-round display to secure an impressive victory after a superb performance with both bat and ball.

Batting first, Ripon posted a strong total of 319, losing just a single wicket throughout their innings. Every pair contributed valuable runs, demonstrating excellent teamwork and sensible running between the wickets. Captain Rory led from the front with an excellent 23 runs, closely followed by Esme with 22, as Ripon built a formidable score.

Taking to the field, Ripon continued their dominance with a brilliant display of bowling, fielding and teamwork. The bowlers shared the wickets around, with Jay leading the way with 3 wickets, while Henry N claimed 2 wickets. There was also a wicket each for Aria, Dom, A***n, and Rory.

However, it was the fielding effort that truly stood out. Sharp catches, quick reactions and outstanding run outs highlighted the team's growing confidence and cricketing awareness. Every player played their part, contributing to an impressive 15 wickets in total and helping Ripon secure a well-deserved win.

Another match report from a very busy Sunday for Ripon CC

After a few false starts Ripon Development team played their first game of the season away at Rainton today.
Captain Oliver took the reins as Ripon fielded first with a good mixture of lads, dads and mum / daughter combos.
The young Rainton side (with a few seniors) put in a great batting performance to reach 146 from their 25 overs but were held back by early wickets from Reece, a great run out from the skipper and some other great bowling and fielding from the rest of the team - the youngsters all somehow bowling downhill with the wind!
With the bat, Gary and Charlie got the reply off to a solid start, Gary retiring on 35 to make way for son Harry who finished 18 not out. There were runs for Reece, Ava and a quick fire 37 from the skipper as Ripon reached the target with a few overs and wickets in hand. It was a great team performance, played in good spirit with everyone getting a go with either bat or ball!
