This is why a bit fitting is so important.

How to use the idolo Tether Tie 15/05/2026

I don't sell these, but I would not want to be without them.

Idolo Tether Ties

I have retrained many pull-back and panic horses with these. They work 100%, if used with the correct tension.
With most horses, the initial Panic sets in the first time they pull back and the headcollar/clip breaks. It is the breaking and the resulting hurtling back that frightens them the most, as, with the momentum, they no longer have control of their own feet - something that a prey animal MUST have for its safety.
The fact that these allow the rope to slide through, when enough tension is applied, prevents this sudden loss of control. The horse has 100% control of the feet 100% of the time.
The first time you try it (the rope should be at least 15ft long) the horse will fly back, as usual, but the rope slides with it. The horse may go back 10/12 ft, but will stop when the 'Break' does not occur. You then find that the second time, it is only 9ft, then 6 ft, then, after about 20 mins training, it doesn't pull back at all.

There are 2 main ways to alter the tension. The first is with the top loop to the front and if you turn it around, so that the top loop faces the back, you have to pull harder to make the rope slip through. You can also wrap the rope end over the tie to increase the tension further, but this is only for horses who already tie solid.

I strongly recommend anyone who has trained with APBBF.

In my opinion, their training course is the only one that actually gets it right.

So glad I could help.

For anyone struggling with their ponios in the bridle or mouth department - following the obvious checks with a dentist....... definitely give Maureen Webb at Horsemanship Saddlery UK Ltd. A call!!!

Absolutely amazing lady! What this lady teaches just makes sense and it's not a fight.....I went for a bit fitting today after trying all sorts of different types of bit with little success. I knew Ponio wasn't comfortable and you can't get very far without comfort....so we discussed what I'd tried already and what was seemingly slightly better than others that were a definite no.
I will say, schooling or lack of is the issue, but I can't progress when I can't comfortably take up a contact with Pones mouth.
V was backed with a key bit, then in a full cheek...then snaffles, Pelham, 3 ring gag....all the way to a Universal, double reins and back to snaffles 🀯.

Maureen suggested a hanging cheek snaffle. I've never tried one...... definitely more improvement than I've seen.
Then we had a lesson in how to convince V standing was her choice....βœ….
Following that we worked on simple hold contact and release when V found her head lower βœ….
Then that felt pretty good.... until it was noticed, V was too slobbery.....so change the mouthpiece to a HP which took the pressure off the tongue βœ…. (Hope I've got that correct).

Absolute bingo..... within minutes V was seeking her own contact, holding her self on the bridle and my reins were just balanced across my hand - no pressure.....A.M.A.Z.I.N.G......some say witchcraft 🀣.
And the walk - WOW, lift through the shoulder.....we felt super fresian 😍.

Mirela Iordache had a go too and felt the same results!!

Now I'm going to put this to the test on my own and competing 😁....... I'll get some videos πŸ’•.
No pics from today as I was too busy learning πŸ˜†
