🦢INTRODUCING THE JAMES SPORTS COMMITTEE 2022 🦢

Hi, I’m Connor, a 2nd year psychology student and I am your Head of Sports. I mainly play for JCFC, the best college football team in the uni, as well as playing a bit of cricket and pool here and there. My role is to help all James students get the best sporting experience, whether that be through running fun events or ensuring college sport runs smoothly throughout the year.

Hi, I’m Andy. It’s my third year at uni, and my second being on the James Sports Committee. I play football here at uni, although I enjoy lots of different sports in general. I’ll be working hard to help make the college continue to be the best for sports at York!

Hi, I’m Azzam, a 1st year Computer Science student and I am your Deputy Head of Sports. I play for James Basketball as well as a little bit of football. My role is to help James students get the best out of the sports they’re participating and to encourage more students to join college sports as well as making sure fixtures and events be run smoothly.

Hi, I’m Jia (it’s like Hi with a J, the A is silent), a 2nd year Biology student and your Sports Social Media Officer. My main sports are netball and volleyball, which I play for college; I also play a lot of other sports for fun. My role is to give students all the relevant information that is needed for everyone to get involved and make it known to all the colleges that we are the best and the sportiest college in York.

Thank you so much to everyone, in particular the 14 captains who I have worked closely with, for your unrelenting passion and effort that you have continued to put into college sport, week in week out, despite the ongoing restrictions the pandemic posed on sport for us all. It has been an honour to lead James sport for the last 12 months, and I know Connor is going to do a brilliant job for the next year.

“It’s been a challenging year for James Sport, and uni sports in general. However, we’ve bounced back this term and it’s been a pleasure being a part of that. Here’s to another year of being the best sports college!” (Andy)

Badminton take the victory against Rugby: 43-27 and Darts take the win over Men’s football 32-22!
