Dressage boards 200cm by 15cm. There is 30 boards and have metal stakes for putting in the ground. £30ono

Assorted odd wing stands. There is 8 wing stands but no matching pairs. Need some TLC. Most have the tracks for conversion to key hole cups. £25 for the lot.

FEI jump converter to key hole cups. £10 per pair.

Please bear with us regarding all the messages, we are doing our best to reply. Everything is to sell on a first come, first served basis as we have so much to clear and have an incoming tenant. This process is extremely stressful and emotive for all concerned as the school operated for fifty years and there are a lot of memories attached to everything. We had intended to auction to give everyone a chance but auctioneers have not come back to us despite pressing for over two months and we need to clear everything and move on, hence some bargain prices. There is a quantity of further equipment not in our immediate way so will post probably next week. Really sorry if you have missed something but we are trying to get through this process as quickly as we can.

Muck trailer (tipping), condition as seen SOLD, set chain harrows on frame SOLD, arena leveller (heavy for use with tractor, old indoor arena one), quantity of dressage boards, a few poles and some wings (coloured poles sold), jump numbers etc. various lockers and tack boxes, child’s quad. Heavy field roller SOLD, rubber mats, some heavy timber suitable for cross country jumps.

Further to our initial on site sale of tack and equipment on Saturday we must also sell the stable partitions as well as the rubber matting in order to clear the building. The partitions are steel with strong plastic slats which look like wood but are durable and washable, they have sliding doors. These partitions will be suitable to re-erect in another building and there are enough for five or six stables. The partitions are to be removed by the buyer and can be seen “in situ” at the moment. There are also pieces of ground engaging machinery such as harrows, rollers, muck trailers etc.

Thank you for all the interest in our horses and ponies, we have rehomed all of them apart from two, Hayley will be back from her holiday next week and will have information on these two. We are sorry if you did not have a chance to secure one, but the issue for us was that they went to people who knew them, whom we knew, and who could give them the best future possible.... it was never about what they were worth on the open market.
We do have a VAST quantity of tack and equipment, enough to run a full riding school and some of this is left over from our competition days so is of very good quality. There are over one hundred rugs, all kinds of saddlery, jumps etc etc...... We have to clear the space so from next week so are organising dispersal of all the residual contents of the school and will advise how this will be arranged.

Thank you all so much for the kind messages and offers of homes for our beloved horses and ponies. The first step was to make the announcement, we will now concentrate on placing our horses and ponies. We will compile a list of what is available and be able to arrange viewings during August. They will be able to leave us at the end of August. The tack, equipment, stables, horse boxes, tractors etc.. in fact everything required to run a riding school will be auctioned by Stephensons early in September… date to be announced. Please bear with us whilst we organise this huge and difficult process as we want to do the very best we can for our equines.

It is with great regret that we have to inform you that after fifty wonderful years, The York Riding School will finally be closing its doors on August 31st 2025.
All lessons and activities will continue until this date but the business will be liquidated shortly thereafter.
This decision is due to the retirement of the proprietor, compounded by continuing uncertainty over the dualling of the York Outer Ring Road and the increased operation costs and regulation in the industry which have made it increasingly challenging to sustain the business.

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all our past and present clients for your support, dedication, and love for equestrian activities. Your passion has made our riding school a vibrant community, and we will cherish the memories created together.

We are committed to finding the best possible homes for our horses and ponies and welcome approaches to do so.

Thank you once again for being an integral part of The York Riding School.

Price changes as of 1st April 2025

We have some children beginner spaces become available on Saturdays at 1.30 for riders under 4’6. It is a 50 minutes beginners group and £27. To book please email [email protected]
