GLL Sport Foundation Athlete 2026:
Lily: I am an athlete competing for City of York Athletic Club as a sprinter. I had a successful 2025 season despite suffering an injury midway through. I was awarded Yorkshire and North East Champion at the regional Sports Hall finals and I qualified for the National Indoor Championships in Sheffield. I won silver medal at the Yorkshire Championships in the 100m and competed at the ESSA English Schools Championships in Birmingham where I represented North Yorkshire. I am excited to continue developing as an athlete with the support of GLL.

Matthew: I am a multisport athlete and I've had a good start to my triathlon season with a 1st in Age Group at Tadcaster Triathlon. My life is very busy with family, work, training and racing. I've also been taking part in the York 10k road race league, with 2 course PB's so far, and I ride some of the Clifton Cycling Club time trial league.

GLL Sport Foundation Athlete 2026
Louise: I'm a proud Team GB transplant athlete competing in discus and shot put. My journey into sport began after receiving a life-saving liver transplant. From learning to walk again after being in a coma to completing over 320 races, including ultra-marathons, sport became my way of rebuilding physically and mentally. Today, I use every race, competition, and challenge to demonstrate the life-changing power of organ donation and resilience. Throughout my sporting journey, I have won 12 British medals and three World silver medals at the world championships. This year I was honoured to receive a commendation for services to sport, alongside being recognised with the Rob Burrow Award and named Disability Athlete Winner at the York Sports Awards 2025. In 2026 I will be competing in the European championships in Arnhem and later this year the British games being held in Sheffield hoping to bring home gold!
