A Brief Guide to Fencing!
For all of those uninitiated or just needing a reminder about the rules of fencing before Roses tomorrow, we’ve put together a little guide to give you an idea of the rules.

The M1 roses line up remains unchanged from their impressive cup win against Bangor. On the day the boys and girls of the m1s will be hoping to put the functioning in the functioning alcoholics they have been referred as. Carrying on from their impressive league season they will be hoping to thrash lancs m1 hoping to settle some old scores from last time.

Team Tryouts!🤺🤺
We’re excited to announce the team tryouts for Roses. Everyone is invited to try out for the teams, and for whichever weapon they like. You can try out for as many weapons as you like.
We will have a 1sts and 2nds for both the men and the women. Tryouts will be by weapon and will be done by poules. Team selection will be mainly based on tryouts, however exceptional circumstances may apply and in those cases it will be captains discretion, and attendance at training and previous team performances may be considered in these circumstances.
The tryout dates are:
Mens
Tuesday 18th - Foil
Sunday 23rd - Sabre
Tuesday 25th - Epee
Womens
Friday 21st - Foil and Sabre
Sunday 23rd - Epee
They will take place in the Main Hall in the Roses training times.
We look forward to seeing everyone there to tryout!

More Roses news!
We’re excited to announce our pre-Roses training sessions. They are as follows:
From the 11/04-27/04:
Tuesdays - 20:00-22:00
Fridays - 19:00-22:00
Sundays - 15:00-17:00
Some of our sessions are before term starts so that we will have 3 weeks of training. However, no tryouts will take place in those sessions, so don’t worry if you’re not back in York by then!
We cannot unfortunately offer beginners’ training during these three weeks, but it will start back up again after Roses.

We're excited to announce our match times for all our teams for Roses 2023!
They are as follows (all matches are on the Saturday 29th April):
Men’s and Women’s 2nds - 9am
Men’s 1sts - 12pm
Women’s 1sts - 3pm
All the matches will be held in the Main Hall, in the Sports Hall, Campus West. Please come down and show your support!
