First home game of the year saw a two goal lead thrown away and a late equaliser.
Wilton started brightly and had chances early in but proved wasteful in front of goal. Woodhead putting a header over and Ben hitting the bar then putting over from a yard. 🤷‍♂️
Tom opened the scoring with a hard shot from 12 yards. Woodhead doubled the lead with a header the went through the keepers legs.
Wilton the took their foot off the gas and allowed Abbey to start playing. This pressure led to BT bringing down their striker in the box and Adam had no chance with the penalty.
2-1 halftime.
Again Wilton missed chances but Abbey then came forward and scored two goals and looked stronger at this point.
Wilton though have learnt to dig deep and applied pressure and forced an own goal from a corner.
Wilton will see this as two points lost, but they had to dig deep to get a point.

First game of 2022 and it was probably the best team performance this season. Panthers will see this as two points dropped having the greater number of chances but Wilton could have nicked it with late chances for Tom and Daz.
Panthers were on the front foot from the off and played with confidence, whereas Wilton appeared a yard off the pace.
However when chances fell to Panthers they either wasted them or Adam made one of many saves.
In the end, Panthers were frustrated by Wilton who held on for a deserved point.

A poor team performance, the team never really settled and only played football in very limited patches. The first half saw Wilton (or was it Wimbledon??) try the long ball and failing miserably. Selby were playing shorter balls and having the time to pick passes. They hit the post and bar before the first which was a combination of old Lee not getting enough in his header and Adam slipping which allowed their forward in to slot the ball home.
The second half began and the best bit of passing by Wilton but it was Selby who scored with a ball over the top of their own. The third came from a goal line clearance, with the Selby player launching himself at old Lee’s clearance and deflecting into the net.
Tinno got one back, a cross/shot going over the goalies head into the top corner. Wilton then out Selby under pressure but couldn’t find another.
Selby’s fourth came from a switch in formation and the three at the back beaten by a runner who slotted into the net.

BWFC 1-7 York St Johns Cup 1st Round
At the end of the game the ref said “That wasn’t a 7-1 game, the score doesn’t reflect the match ”.
Wilton should have taken the lead, Stu put wide from twelve yards. Tinno saw another effort hit the post. Lewis put a ball across the box but no one was able to get to it. Meanwhile we concede St Johns managed to get behind the defence and the shot went through Adam’s hands.
1-0 at halftime and Wilton were unlucky not to be on the score sheet.
The second goal was very unlucky. Adam Made a very good save only to see the ball rebound off his hand into the net.
Wilton hit back when Sam Apps put a free kick into the box and Stu Barker hooked the ball into the net.
60 minutes in and it’s a tight game.
Then luck deserted Wilton, two own goals, (Sam and BT) and then with heads dropping, St Johns slot in a couple including a penalty.
Out of this cup but still two more to play for.

Made hard work of a game we had control of for 70 minutes. A few changes to the team due to missing players and to give those attending training a run out, but still a strong team to start.
Lee and Lee slotting in as fullbacks, Lewis pushed into midfield and Tom starting up front.
Wilton created chances throughout the half but were wasteful. That said Tom found the net twice but easily could have had a first half hat trick. LNER had a couple of long distance efforts but nothing seriously to trouble Adam.
Half time was probably the team’s undoing with to many negatives coming out. This was obvious in the first 20 minutes with indecision and bad possession. An error by BT let in LNER to pull one back and with the team getting jittery it was soon 2-2.
Wilton started to get forward again and a break in to LNER’s area led to a handball and a penalty. With Aaron away, Lewis then did his penalty routine but actually scored which took the pressure off Wilton and then Tom nipped in for his hat trick.
Joss replaced Lee on the left, Dan came in for new Lee who pulled his hamstring and Daz went up front with Scott coming off.
The game was now settled with Wilton back to playing football, Lee replaced Nathan with Tom dropping to midfield.
Late in Lee missed a golden chance to make it five after the keeper commited early but put his shot wide.
In the end a scrappy win but another three points see Wilton go top of Div 4.

First defeat of the season. Three changes from last week to the starting lineup but still a strong team. The first half half was slightly edged by Sporting. Wilton had the best chance but their keeper got a hand to a powerful shot from Sam which rebounded on to the bar.
The team were having to work hard to cover the ground keeping Sporting at bay. On cue they creating a gap and managed to force the ball over the line from an acute angle.
The second half started badly and Wilton conceded two more goals. Subs were made but the damage was done and Sporting got a few more.

Another solid team display and another win.
Make no mistake this was a hard fought win and a very good game. Hensall can consider themselves unlucky not to come away with points and played some good football. Poor finishing was their main issue. In fact the one normality for Wilton in the first half was Tom Daley doing a belly flop when he fell over a blade of grass.
Hensall took the lead when Wilton tried to play the ball out through a crowded midfield and when they got into the box , Scott slipped which allowed their striker to slot the ball in the corner.
It stayed 1-0 until the second half when Daz popped up on the end of through ball to slot past their keeper and get clattered in the process. The second came via an own goal when a free kick skimmed off the head of a defender leaving the goalie no chance.
It could have been three, Tom broke clear but his shot hit post and rebounded to safety.
A good game of football in bad conditions.

Another good team display. From the start Wilton played the better football. Garforth were quite physical and a couple of times Ben and Daz had some rough challenges to deal with.
The first goal was a header from Daz, from about eight yards out he sent, what was something that never could be described aa a bullet header towards the goal and past their keeper.
Ben, then continued his goal scoring form, finishing a good Wilton team goal which saw about five or six two touch passes before he slotted the ball into the net.
Several other chances were created but shooting practice could be basis of training in Wednesday.
Wilton took their foot of the gas a little quick allowed Garforth a goal. The shot slotted under a diving Adam.
The second half began as the first, Wilton creating chances and defending well. The third came when a Garforth defender raised a hand to block a cross. Campy stepped up and although he mis-hit the ball sent the goalie the wrong way.
Just after the penalty a sudden gust of wind took the legs from under Tom Daley to much amusement from both teams.
Scott pulled up injured so Lee came at left back and Tom Daley moved to centre-half. Dan came in for Campy and Harvey replaced Nathan who had another solid game at right midfield.
Five minutes from the end Wilton made it 4 with another header from Daz from a corner.
Second round beckons. Roll on Wilton.

Second league game and second win. A good solid team performance overshadowed by an injury to Scott after 10 minutes.
Wilton played the game well except for one period in the second half. The team played the ball out well from the back and used the room down the flanks to expose LNER. Nathan and Campy making use of the space well.
The break through came in the way of a penalty. Lee crossed the ball in and BT was just about to head in when he pushed from behind. Campy then sent the keeper the wrong way to make it 1-0.
LNER started the second half briskly but Wilton weathered the storm and freshened the attack with the introduction of Ben and Tom. Within minutes Ben made use of his pace and finished of a move shortly followed by Campy who added a third. Tom should have had two but put it wide from a few meters out. Ben then got his second to completely wrap the game up.

First league game of the new campaign saw us grind out a win against a new member of the league.
Hensall started the better but Wilton grew into the game. For the first twenty minutes Hensall had the better possession and chances. A couple of times they managed to get behind the defence with some clinical passing. On these occasions they should have scored but covering by Scott and Sparky prevented Hensall scoring.
After about 30 minutes Wilton took the lead against the run of play when Wilton’s very own Tom Daley took a long throw which glanced off a Hensall players head into the far corner of the net.
The goal obviously gave confidence and for the rest of the half played the better football. Despite a late series of corners, Wilton maintained their lead.
Second half began and within five minutes the score was 1-1. Campy couldn’t get a high ball under proper control allowing the Hensall winger to burst into the box and shoot into the roof of the net passed Adam.
The game then went with end to end attacks with Wilton’s biggest threat being a long throw. New player Daz Woodhead kept their defence on their toes and had a couple of shots. From a long throw Wilton took the lead. Tom Daley took another throw which was flicked into the back post area, Lee knocked the ball back into box which Tinno deflected on to the bar, the ball fell to Daz which he smacked into the net.
To be fair to Hensall they had at least three excellent chances to equalise but all where wasted. They pushed an extra player forward to no avail.
Wilton made a couple subs with Dan coming on for Nathan and Harvey coming on for Campy.
In the last 5 minutes, Wilton were awarded a free kick which Lewis put just under the bar and the keeper managed to push into the net to make it 3-1.
A good solid performance from everyone.
