You’ve all been asking for it!❤️

Excited to announce I’ll be running Pilates classes from Patch in York from the 9th September! Classes will be every Wednesday at 6pm & Sunday at 9am🤩

Classes will still be £8 and you can book on the Setmore app again! The link will be in my bio or you can message me✨

Can’t wait to start indoor classes this autumn. The space is great and overlooks the river😍 We will be located in the academy which is straight inside and on your left.

I fear many people still think that Pilates is the same as yoga and they come to a class ready for some deep stretching. They soon realise it’s not that kind of class🤪

I had a client say to me after they didn’t realise it was so much abdominal work. We do Pilates to create a strong powerhouse and stable body💪🏻

Pilates isn’t as gentle as yoga is as a beginner. You might hate it the first few times as you learn how to move from your centre but it gets better I promise🤣

A new week and a new substack article; this week I’m exploring the Pilates aesthetic, how it’s changed the Pilates industry for better but mostly worse.

I know Instagram is the place to be perfect but maybe some days we can be real with each other✨ Teaching Pilates is a rewarding job but it can also be long days, early mornings and hard work.

I don’t want to put anyone off Pilates teacher training, I loved my experience! But we should be more open about how much we are actually earning teaching and how this could improve.

Most teachers want to keep learning new things every year and this costs money, many studios don’t offer paid CPD or free workshops, the cost is usually on the teacher.

Studio owners remember to thank your Pilates teacher because they show up even when their tummy hurts and they are the ones bringing in all the monayyy! A little appreciation goes a long way in this industry.❤️

I kept seeing the trend “why I’m not the Pilates teacher for you” so thought I’d put a positive spin on it because I want everyone to come to my classes😁😁

I’m weird. I’m a weirdo. But I’ll make you laugh through the hard work😄 There might also be some singing when the rolling starts.

I’m not perfect, you aren’t perfect, let’s be not perfect together on a patch of grass this summer?❤️

Come to my class and I guarantee you’ll leave feeling better than before you came. That’s my new best quote, “leave everyone even better than you found them” 🌟

5 reasons you should NOT be a Pilates teacher! Because it’s not all glitz and glamour and people should be told this before paying thousands for training courses.

1. You’re a bad listener
2. You’re only doing it for insta
3. You can’t handle feedback
4. You don’t want to be a student forever
5. You hate working hard

But it is the most rewarding and fun job!😁

It’s August which means Pilates in the park has nearly come to an end!🥲

Over 100 of you joined me this summer in the park and many laughs were had in the sunshine. Thank you so much for showing up on a Sunday morning ready to work🫱🏻‍🫲🏼

Although I think the Pilates studios with screens could be making their way to the UK, I don’t think they could ever replace the skill, dedication, empathy and kindness of a real Pilates teacher.

Community means a lot in the UK and people are always searching for new groups to make friends. Pilates studios are social hubs where many people gather to move their bodies.

For some, a Pilates class is the most interaction they will have that week. A good Pilates teacher will make them feel seen and heard which a pre recorded video can’t do.

It’s hard to imagine the future in 20 years but I don’t see a future without the Pilates teachers we have around today who truly help people and love doing it!
