🏅Medal Monday🏅

Congratulations to Harry, Aiden, Nat, Andrea and Gemma (not pictured) for tackling York 10k yesterday. A ‘flat and fast’ course but with lots of twisting and turning along with a lot of other runners making it busy. Some great times and great training for future races 👏🏼

Well done to George who tackled Workington Half Marathon yesterday in the Lake District. For anyone that knows George will know that he loves hills and finds them easy so this course with nearly 600ft in elevation was a walk in the park for him. He finished in a time of 1:39:29 and was 25th overall 👏🏼

What. A. Night. 💙🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Last night saw the final 5K event in our 2026 Time Trial Series, and what a fantastic evening it turned out to be!

An incredible 67 runners took to the paths of Central Park, supported by over 20 amazing volunteers who gave up their evening to marshal, timekeep, register runners, hand out water and ensure everything ran like clockwork. Events like these simply wouldn’t be possible without you all, so from everyone at Scunthorpe & District Running Club… thank you! 👏

The results only tell part of the story. Yes, there were brilliant performances, personal bests and course bests, but there were also members taking on the course at their own pace, running alongside friends, encouraging others and simply enjoying being part of another fantastic club night. That’s exactly what these evenings are all about.

The atmosphere from the first runner setting off to the final finishers crossing the line was incredible, with encouragement around every corner and smiles everywhere you looked. It’s evenings like this that remind us why we’re so proud to be part of this club.

A huge thank you also goes to Patrick Barnett, who came along to capture the evening. Patrick produced some fantastic photographs that really captured the atmosphere of the event, so make sure you head over to the Friends of Scunthorpe & District Running Club. page to take a look! 📸

And, of course, no Time Trial evening would be complete without everyone heading upstairs afterwards to App Frod’s new sports bar to enjoy our now legendary post-run chip butties! 🍟😂 It’s become a tradition that perfectly sums up what these nights are really about! Great running, great company and bringing people together.

If you’ve been thinking about joining a running club, this is exactly what Scunthorpe & District Running Club is all about. Whether you’re chasing a PB, building confidence, training for your next event or simply looking to enjoy running with a friendly, supportive group of people, there’s a place for you here.

We’ll see you all at the next event! 💙🏃

🐝 What a fantastic morning at Normanby 10K, hosted by Curlys Athletes!

With over 25 Scunthorpe & District Running Club members on the start line, it was brilliant to see so many blue vests taking on the famous bee-themed event. The long drag between Thealby and Burton is never easy, and with the temperatures climbing, it made for a tough but rewarding race.

There were plenty of reasons to celebrate too, with a handful of PBs, some course PBs, and even a few absolute legends who completed most of their scheduled long run before joining the 10K just for good measure! 🤯

A massive well done to everyone who took part. Whether you were chasing a time, ticking off another race, or simply enjoying the morning with the club, you did us proud.

Thank you to Curly’s Athletes for another fantastic event, we’ll bee back! 🐝💙

🏅Medal Monday🏅

Sundays are for long runs right? Well yesterday Rich, Chris & Benn did a long, long Sunday run.

Rich had a great idea that he wanted to challenge himself to run the 33 mile Opencast Way around North Lincolnshire. A route that is mixed terrain, on trail path, surfaced paths and road. Rich was joined on his training runs and the main event by Chris and Benn along with some other club members.

Yesterday, they all set off at 5am with the heat at 23 degrees for their trip around Scunthorpe, Broughton, Winterton and Normanby. Rich and Chris completed the 33 mile route in just over 5 hours with Benn completing the marathon distance.

A massive congratulations to all three lads and a great achievement 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Rich & Chris - you’re now Ultra runners 💪🏻
