2XI – Matchday 8 🏏

After a successful run chase in the league on Saturday (with a few typical nervy Ovington moments along the way), we welcome the same opposition who narrowly knocked us out of the cup last Sunday.

With a fairly consistent team heading into the game, with only seven changes from last week, confidence remains high.

Backed by the usually vocal Races crowd, the stage is set for what could be a day to remember.

3XI – Matchday 8 🏏

After a disappointing 75-run defeat last weekend, the 3XI will be looking to bounce back and return to winning ways.

This week sees the shortest of away days, with a mammoth journey of around five minutes to take on local rivals Dringhouses Cricket Club.

Can the real David Warner inspire his side to victory and get the 3XI back on track this weekend?

🏏 Matchday 7 – Athletica Health Physiotherapy Clinic Players of the Match

1XI – Jack Eckersley-Wilson
The first half of the 1XI game went to plan thanks to a fantastic bowling and fielding performance, with Jack leading the way by claiming 3 wickets as the visitors were restricted to 125. Unfortunately, a batting collapse during the run chase saw the side fall short of the target, despite their earlier efforts in the field.

2XI – Arnab Haque (First POTM Award)
After a similar start to the 1XI, the 2XI did an excellent job of restricting the home side before finding themselves 5 wickets down before drinks in the chase. Arnab then produced a match-winning knock, finishing unbeaten on 36* and sharing a crucial 64-run sixth-wicket partnership with the skipper to guide his side to victory.

3XI – Simon Rogerson
After insisting on a few weeks off to recover from a historic injury, it was no surprise to see Simon appear in the 3XI when the call came at the eleventh hour for a player. He delivered his trademark consistency with the ball, bowling 10 overs of accurate line and length and picking up a well-deserved wicket for his efforts.

🏏 2XI T20 Cup

After a fantastic all-round team performance yesterday to bring home a win in the league, the 2XI now turn their attention to the cup.

They face a side who, in decades gone by, shared a fierce rivalry with our 1XI.

Can the 2XI continue where the firsts left off, despite fielding a much-changed side?

All support is welcome down on the Mire! πŸ’™

1XI – Matchday 7 🏏

After a nail-biting victory and a heartbreaking defeat last weekend β€” losing on wickets lost after scores were tied β€” the First XI return to action tomorrow against local rivals Heworth Cricket Club.

With last match's Player of the Match unavailable, who will step up and help the lads bring home another victory?

2XI – Matchday 7 🏏

After a disappointing home defeat last week, the side will be looking to bounce back as they hit the road this weekend to face Yapham CC

With changes to the lineup once again (bringing the average age down) , the team will be hoping to rediscover that winning feeling in the first of two fixtures this weekend.

Sunday sees the start of our T20 Cup campaign, with team news for that match to follow tomorrow.

3XI - Matchday 7 🏏

After a comprehensive defeat last weekend, our 3XI return home to a pitch that skipper David Warner has publicly declared to be "better than Lord's".

There are a few slight changes to the side this week which may, or may not, have nudged the average age upwards... only slightly, of course! πŸ‘€

The lads will be looking to bounce back with a strong performance and get back to winning ways on home soil.

Matchday 6 🏏- Athletica Health Physiotherapy Clinic Players of the Match

1XI – Dominic Alessandrini Kitching

What more can be said about this man? Perhaps it's time to add all-rounder to his list of qualities. After shining with the ball, Dom produced a composed and unbeaten 30* down the order, guiding the side to a dramatic two-wicket victory.

2XI – Oliver Dodson

Despite receiving some stick for narrowly missing out on yet another fifty, Oliver's composed innings helped the team post a respectable total after wickets began to tumble around him. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough to prevent a seven-wicket defeat.

3XI – Neil Metcalfe

After decades of scoring runs (and taking wickets) in the 1XI, it came as no surprise to see Neil continue that form in the 3XI alongside his son this season. However, a somewhat unfortunate run-out saw him fall just short of another half-century. Sadly, the result followed a similar pattern to the 2XI, ending in defeat.
