☔️ 💨 💨 🌧️

Despite the wind and some heavy showers, over 30 teams (120 members) took on the challenge for the Golf19 Team Golf Event this weekend.

Drafting in Henry Henke as a replacement was an inspired move for the remaining and victorious members of Daryl Tapp, Ian Cranidge and Andy Smith. Together they amassed 78 points, two points clear of the chasing pack.

Leading three teams to 2nd place on countback (76 points) were Andy Chamberlain, Phil Rowe, Paddy Breton and Shane De Carteret who were out first and battled the worst of the days conditions.

Three further teams were on a shot back on 75 points and countback resolved their finishing places in the prizes.

With combined ages in the region of 280 years, the veterans of Roy Martel, Pete Kenney, Martin Blondel and Mick Solway finished 7th overall and as with 28 other lucky prize winners, collected a generous prize courtesy of sponsors Andy Myres and Golf19 at St Pierre Park

Nearest the Pin Prizes went to Mark Le Tissier (18th) Alun Jenkins (7th) Graeme Sebire (3rd) and Tony Crawley (12th).

😃 🐴 🏆 🍻
There were some smiling faces at the presentation of the Macleane Cup, and why not, once again there were some fantastic prizes on offer.

Club member and Sponsor Geoff Ballay was on hand to present the prizes to the lucky winners, with Paul Hamon (7ph) reigning in the glory days to take the spoils with 39 Stableford Points.

Paul played some of his trademark steady golf in his round of 73 gross nett 66.

Few were more steady than runner-up Ashley Northgrave (5ph) who after eleven straight pars, only dropped one-shot in his final seven holes towards 39 stableford points.

Also on 39 points was Curtis Le Noury (14ph) who only needed a bogey on the last to have been the overall winner. Maybe the guest prize of a wooden horse should have been reserved for Curtis, who after running to the finish line, bolted and sadly blobbed the last!

The coveted Horse Guest Prize however went to Geoff’s and friend of the club too, Chris Mason, with 33 points.

Round of the day however must go to Island star golfer Jamie Blondel who carded five birdies, including three birdie 2’s on his way to a sixty-six gross. Well done to Jamie who returns to +2 handicap index status.

🏆 Adrian Hutchins celebrated a great win on Saturday, claiming the rather handsome Labet Malet trophy; by leading a field of 138 fellow LGC members.

Adrian played some consistent golf, scoring stableford points on every hole, four points on a few of them too. All resulted in 39 points, two better than runner-up George Melhuish who pipped Geoff Ballay also on 37 points, on count-back.

Former professional Stuart Wallbridge claimed the Scratch Prize whilst Richard Cotran was top placed Veteran.

Thanks to the support of Fibretech Guernsey, all those who ended up in the top 10 and a few others, laid claim to a generous prize.

🙌 📢 Massive shout out to the LGC first team who have made it 5 years in a row as De La Rue Shield Winners.

The 8-a-side scratch foursomes and singles matchplay format pitches the best from LGC and RGGC to compete for an historic piece of memorabilia.

Club Captain Geoffrey Orme and Team Captain Danny Blondel proudly show off the Shield which will be back on our Clubhouse wall for another year at least

Yesterday saw the presentations for the month of May Saturday Club Competitions.

There were prizes galore, in total over £4,500 of golfing prizes handed out - this would not happen without the Sponsors generous contributions and your entry fees.

Some winners collecting more than one prize too ! 👏 👏. We are a very fortunate club indeed.

The competitions keep on rolling in with the next seven Saturdays boasting a club event with plenty more opportunities to win big 🏆
