GBIMC Releases Filing Fees For Elections
The Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) 2026 Elections is coming on as planned.
According to the Interim Management Committee (IMC) chaired by Mr. Samir Captan and ably supported by Pro. Azumah Nelson, the Elective Congress will come on on June 4, 2026 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The Filling Fees approved for contestants are as follows:
President – GHC10,000
1st Vice President – GHC5,000
2nd Vice President – GHC,5000
Four (4) Executive Board Members – GHC3,000
Treasurer – GHC3,000
All aspirants must pay the full filing fee on or before the day of submission of their
completed nomination forms, within the stipulated filing period.
The Candidate Forms cost GHC500, and it is available at the Accra Sports Stadium from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. daily on Thursday, 14th May to Monday, 18th May 2026 (excluding weekend)
Association Heads or duly mandated Executives presenting delegates may also procure Delegate Forms during the same schedule above.

Ghana Boxing IMC Set To Complete Critical Work With An Extension Leading To Elections
The Ghana Boxing Interim Management Committee (GBIMC), inaugurated on 29th September 2025, has restored professional boxing in Ghana following its suspension.
In recent months, the Committee has introduced strict medical and anti doping protocols, secured athlete insurance partnerships, and delivered major events including the Tarkwa Boxing Explosion, Legacy Rise Showdown, Battle of Gbagladza, Cabic Big Fight Night, RBS’s Boxing Masterpiece, and Best of Bukom II; all under enhanced safety standards.
To ensure accountability, the GBIMC submitted a detailed progress report to the Minister of Sports and Recreation and the Director General of the National Sports Authority, alongside a formal request for an extension of its mandate. The extension, granted with clear guidelines, will allow the Committee to complete reforms and prepare for transparent elections.

In the course of its work, the GBIMC has engaged stakeholders across the boxing fraternity, culminating in a major meeting on 18th December 2025 to address governance, legal, operational, and safety challenges.
Outstanding reforms to be conducted under the extended tenure includes:
- Reviewing licensing standards and disciplinary codes.
- Establishing the Independent Medical Commission and rolling out Medical and Anti-Doping Protocols.
- Rolling out a digital health database and administrative portal.
- Conducting Orientation/Training Workshops and Certification Programs. Strengthening regulatory oversight.
- Expand insurance and medical schemes.
- Finalize constitutional reforms and oversee credible elections
A stakeholder meeting followed by a press briefing will be held to outline next steps.
The Committee calls on all stakeholders to consolidate the gains made so far to safeguard the future of professional boxing in Ghana.

MINISTRY OF SPORTS AND RECREATION & NATIONAL SPORTS AUTHORITY TERMS OF REFERENCE FOR THE GHANA BOXING INTERIM MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE
The Interim Management Committee (IMC) for Professional Boxing in Ghana is constituted under the authority of the National Sports Authority (NSA) with approval of the Minister for Sports and Recreation.
Scope
The IMC is constituted to oversee all professional boxing activities and related matters, in Ghana.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities are as follows:
1. Oversee reforms and implement ministerial recommendations;
2. Act as the interim body for sanctioning professional boxing bouts and facilitate the activities of operatives;
3. Establish medical/antidoping protocols and technical standards for professional boxing bouts;
4. Propose regulatory oversight modalities for professional boxing ,in Ghana;
5. Propose procedures for the transitioning of athletes from amateur to professional boxing;
6. Propose and administer modalities for the restructuring of a professional boxing association/body;
7. Establish directives and guidelines to ensure improved insurance for athletes, enhanced training for referees, coaches, technical persons and medical staff and improved boxers welfare and safety;
8. Conduct elections for new executive board of the professional boxing association/body; ensuring a transparent and democratic process, allowing for fair representation of stakeholders;
9. Develop manual for capacity-building for technical officials; and training regime, for athletes;
10. Develop a roadmap for attracting investment, promoting sports tourism and enhancing the competitiveness of Ghana boxing; and
11. Consider any other matter relevant to the terms set down in the matter herein, take appropriate action and make appropriate recommendations to administer, manage and enhance the image of boxing, safeguarding the interest and safety of all participants and patrons.

Coordinators
1. Mr. Patrick Johnson - the current GBA Secretary General will act as Secretary to the Committee.
2. Mr. Gideon H. K. Oyiadzo - Projects & Branding Consultant and Organizing Secretary for Boxing Promoters Association of Ghana will act as the Committee’s liaison and Coordinator.
3. Mr. Prince Azanu - National Anti-Doping Officer for the National Sports Authority (NSA) will act as Athlete Welfare and Technical Advisor on Anti-Doping Reform.
Duration
The IMC shall commence work immediately after inauguration by the Minister for Sports and Recreation and be operational for three months. If necessary, the Chairman shall formally request for an extended period for the Committee to complete its work; however, this extension shall not exceed 30 working days.
Resources
The Committee shall be provided with suitable office accommodation and other logistical and administrative support by the NSA, necessary for its work. The Ministry of Sports and Recreation (MoSR) may assist in this regard.
Output
The Committee shall submit a comprehensive report, with relevant attachments, to the Director General of the NSA for onward submission to the Minister.

Ghana Boxing Stakeholders Emergency Crisis Meeting Today At The Gym – For The Way Forward
The Committee for Professional Boxing Stakeholders invites all boxing stakeholders to an Emergency Crisis Meeting at The Gym Boxing & Fitness Gym on Sunday September 28, 2025 at 2pm prompt.
Agenda;
1. Discussions on the Press Release by the NSA and MoSR on ban on all boxing activities in Ghana due to the demise of a Ghanaian Professional Boxer - Ernest Akushey (aka Bahubali) and the way forward and the Termination of the tenure of office of the current GBA Board.
2. Any other matters
The CPBS invites all Boxing Stakeholders including the Board of the Ghana Boxing Authority, all licensees as well as all members of the Boxing Writers Association of Ghana.

GBA President Abraham Kotei Neequaye Announces Resignation Due To Personal Reasons
I deeply regret to inform fellow Ghanaians that I am resigning as the president of Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) due to personal reasons.
While it was a difficult decision to make,it was the best course of action for me and some executive board members with integrity and dignity at this crucial time.
My last day in the office is expected to be on Friday, June 27,2025, after an official press conference at the GBA secretariat at 10:am to officially announce my resignation as a democratically elected GBA president for four-year tenure.
I am incredibly grateful for the opportunities that I have been given as the GBA president.I actually value the insights that I have learned, and I expect them to help me in my future endeavours.The decision came out after careful considerations of my career goals and personal aspirations.
Let me seize the opportunity to thank the media landscape for the support you offered me and my board members, especially those of us who suffered character assassination during these difficult times.Your media outlet is respectfully invited to the press conference on Friday at 10:am to equip yourself with firsthand information.
I want to thank fellow compatriots wherever you are for being supportive of my professional growth in an office that doesn't pay salary or allowance but just a sacrificial work to serve others and one's country.

Committee for Professional Boxing Stakeholders (CPBS) gives Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) leadership conditions before elections
The Committee for Professional Boxing Stakeholders (CPBS) consists of all the stakeholder bodies under the GBA membership has met today Sunday 25th May, 2025 to discuss matters affecting professional boxing in Ghana.
The Committee met at The Gym Boxing & Fitness Gym in Accra and discussed matters affecting Professional Boxing, the key issue discussed was the invitation by the leadership of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) based on the committee's (CPBS) letter to the GBA rejecting the set date for congress/ elections by the GBA until certain concerns are addressed.
The Committee (CPBS) concluded that they would be ready to meet the GBA leadership only on the conditions that the GBA responds to their letter formally and to invite them through a letter (but not just a word of mouth or through the media airwaves) for record purposes.
The Committee (CPBS) gives the GBA until noon Monday May 26, 2025 for the reply/ invitation before they could honor the said meeting slated same day at 4pm. The committee (CPBS) resolved that, until the GBA does the needful the said meeting is automatically suspended.

Ivan Bruce - Cudjoe picks nomination to contest Ghana Boxing Authority Presidency, hopes to bring professionalism and global excellence
Mr. Ivan Bruce - Cudjoe, CEO of Cabic Promotions has picked nomination forms to contest for the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) President position in the next Congress scheduled for July 12, 2025.
The 2019 SWAG Award winner, who is a boxing promoter, event manager and businessman, said it is time for Ghana Boxing to have a new face with a new direction to return to winning ways.
Addressing a Press Conference on Friday in Accra he said stake holders have called on him to contest for the position of President, because he is the right man at this time..
He promised to take Ghana Boxing to "a new era of growth, professionalism, and global excellence" for the sport.
He observed that retired boxers will be ambassadors. role models and mentors to encourage rising stars and planned to work with the National Sports Authority to establish standard boxing gyms in all 16 regions of the country to encourage national title fights to be staged across various locations to foster competition and talent growth nationwide.
He said IBC (Ivan Bruce - Cudjoe) will be the winner and thanked all who support his dream and ambition to become the next GBA President,
He intends to hold regular stakeholder conferences to ensure that the voices of promoters, referees, coaches, and athletes are heard and factored into key decisions.
“Ghanaian boxing needs collaboration, not division,” he said.
“My leadership will be built on inclusivity, respect, and appreciation for all contributions made to the sport so far.”
In addition to proposing a comprehensive welfare scheme for all stakeholders, Bruce-Cudjoe says he will appoint special envoys to deepen international cooperation and secure global opportunities for Ghanaian fighters.
His ultimate goal is to groom a world-class boxer who will bring home a world title within the next four years.
He promised to present his plans and manifesto that include making boxing the preferred sports very soon.
He believes Ghana’s boxing industry “stands at a crossroads” and insists now is the time for transformation.
He announced his team who are also picked forms like Ellis Afotey Quaye going for 2nd Vice President, Mr. Johnny Gordon and Gideon K. Ohiadjo aka Jingles going for Board Member.

Ghanaian Boxers Shine At African Youth Championship In Guinea
Rising Star Mathias Ash*tey defeated Ayoub Mouhamed of Tunisia on the second day fight umber three in the 51kg category of the African Youth Boxing Championship in Conakry, Guinea.
Earlier in the first day, Desmond Pappoe fighting in the 75kg category progressed to the next stage with a great performance and splendid win against Albingagu Mftah of Libya.
He was supposed to face home boy, Diallo Mamadou of Guinea at the time of filng this report..
George Dowuona also secured success for Team Ghana at the Youth Championship happening in Conakry, Guinea which started yesterday
He next faces Aboubacar Camara of the host nation in the 54kg weight class.
Coach Joseph Martey is happy for the good start of the Black Rockets and hopes they will keep up the winning spirit and enter the medal zone.
George Dowuona who was the first to fight for Ghana beat Miftah Albinbagu of Liberia in the 54 kg preliminaries before Desmond Pappoe battled and made mincemeat on Lade Micock of Seychelles in the 75 kg division on Tuesday when the fight tournament belled off at the 2025 African Youth Boxing Championships in Conakry, Guinea.
