Soccer Bridge Won The Day
The 6th Edition Accra West Middle League 2025/26 final delivered drama, passion, and thrilling football as Soccer Bridge emerged champions after defeating Accra Rockets 3-2 on penalties following a pulsating 1-1 draw at the packed Liberty Park, Dansoman, on Sunday, May 10, 2026.
The grand finale attracted several high-profile football personalities and dignitaries, including the GARFA Vice Chairman, Mr. Gabriel Kwao, the GARFA League Board Chairman and his entourage, Premier League club chairmen, Division One and Two officials, as well as club representatives who all gathered to witness an entertaining showdown between two determined sides.
Liberty Park was filled to capacity as passionate supporters from both clubs created a carnival atmosphere, cheering their teams throughout the encounter.
Soccer Bridge kicked off the match brightly and immediately imposed themselves on the game from the sound of the referee’s whistle, piling relentless pressure on Accra Rockets. Just two minutes into the contest, Soccer Bridge squandered a glorious opportunity after their attacker struck a weak effort straight into the waiting hands of the Rockets goalkeeper.
The tempo of the game remained very high, with every ball fiercely contested in midfield and defence. Both teams displayed moments of quality passing football, but Soccer Bridge looked the more dangerous side, constantly bombarding the Accra Rockets penalty area with waves of attacks.
Due to the intense heat conditions, the centre referee called for a cooling-off break in the 25th minute to allow players to recover.
Moments after play resumed, Soccer Bridge finally found the breakthrough in the 37th minute. Their danger man, Enock Welbeck (No.10), was brought down inside the penalty box after a dangerous attacking move, and the referee pointed straight to the spot. Defender Amos Oppong Amponsah (No.3) stepped up confidently and beautifully converted the penalty kick to hand Soccer Bridge a deserved 1-0 lead, sending their fans into wild celebrations.
Accra Rockets attempted to respond before the break, but Soccer Bridge maintained their composure and defensive discipline. After three minutes of additional time, the referee brought the entertaining first half to an end with Soccer Bridge leading 1-0.
The second half saw a transformed Accra Rockets side emerge from the dressing room with renewed purpose and determination. They began stringing together delightful combinations of passes and attacking with greater urgency. The atmosphere at Liberty Park came alive as both teams treated the fans to beautiful, entertaining football.
Accra Rockets gradually grew stronger in the game and repeatedly threatened the Soccer Bridge goal area. The match turned into a thrilling ding-dong affair, with both sides battling intensely in midfield while searching for the decisive goal.
Their persistence finally paid off in the 83rd minute when a delightful pass found Accra Rockets captain Osman Zakaria at the edge of the 18-yard box. The skipper unleashed a thunderbolt strike that rocketed straight into the net, leaving the Soccer Bridge goalkeeper with no chance and bringing the score level at 1-1.
The equaliser ignited the contest even further as both teams pushed for a winner. However, resolute defending and disciplined midfield displays ensured neither side could find the decisive breakthrough before full time.
With the score remaining 1-1 after regulation time, the final proceeded straight to a penalty shootout. The tension inside Liberty Park reached its peak as both teams missed three penalties each in a dramatic contest from the spot.
In the end, Soccer Bridge held their nerve to secure a 3-2 victory on penalties after the Accra Rockets’ sixth penalty taker saw his effort brilliantly saved by the Soccer Bridge goalkeeper. The decisive save sparked wild celebrations among the Soccer Bridge players, technical team, and their jubilant supporters as they were crowned champions of the 6th Edition Accra West Middle League 2025/26.

Harrison Crushed Victory
The grand finale of the Accra West District Showdown “Champions of Champions” U17 tournament lived up to expectations as Mighty Victory locked horns with Ken Harrison Babes in a thrilling all-Mamprobi affair at the historic Liberty Park.
Mighty Victory appeared in their favourite all-yellow apparel, while Ken Harrison Babes dazzled in their all-white kits decorated with red, yellow, and blue stripes.
The match was officiated by Lord Sarpong of the Accra West Catch Them Young Referees Association, who signaled the commencement of the eagerly anticipated derby clash with Ken Harrison Babes kicking off proceedings.
The young lads treated football lovers to a spectacular encounter filled with excitement and quality football. Any football fan who missed the game at Liberty Park truly missed an unforgettable spectacle as this revived local derby produced moments of brilliance from start to finish.
From the blast of the whistle, supporters applauded the high level of football on display. The first half showcased brilliant passing sequences, energetic play, visionary through balls, power, tactical awareness, and excellent inter-positional movement from both sides.
Due to the scorching weather conditions, Referee Lord Sarpong called for a cooling break in the 25th minute to allow the players to recover before action resumed.
The deadlock was finally broken in the 36th minute when Daniel Abbey wearing jersey number 11 finished off a header pass beautifully set by captain Jonathan Laryea, sending the entire stadium into wild celebrations as Ken Harrison Babes took a deserved lead.
Just seven minutes later, another defensive lapse by Mighty Victory gifted Jonathan Laryea an opportunity, and the captain made no mistake as he calmly slotted home to make it 2-0 for Ken Harrison Babes before halftime.
The second half resumed with renewed determination from Mighty Victory, and their persistence paid off in the 53rd minute when Emmanuel Kotey unleashed a powerful strike from the edge of the box straight into the net to reduce the deficit to 2-1.
The goal reignited the contest as Mighty Victory pushed forward in search of an equaliser, but Ken Harrison Babes still had more to offer. In the 70th minute, a dangerous free-kick situation resulted in a miskick that unfortunately ended up in the Mighty Victory net for an own goal, extending the scoreline to 3-1.
Despite relentless pressure and fighting spirit from Mighty Victory in the closing stages, Ken Harrison Babes remained composed and disciplined until Referee Lord Sarpong blew the final whistle.
At the end of an entertaining and memorable contest, Ken Harrison Babes emerged victorious and were crowned the Accra West District Football Showdown Champions.
Congratulations to both teams for exhibiting outstanding football throughout the season and providing fans with a remarkable display of youth football talent. Harrison is the U17 Champions in the 2025-26 League Season and will represent the District in the Inter District Competition slated later this year.

BARCA KIDS BEAT PHOTO FAST FC
The Accra West District Showdown Championship continued with an entertaining U15 clash between Dansoman Photofast and FC Barca Kids in a highly competitive encounter filled with intensity, skill, and determination.
Dansoman Photofast appeared in pink jerseys, black shorts, and yellow hose to match, while FC Barca Kids dazzled in violet tops and shorts with lemon green hose.
The match was officiated by the enterprising Catch Them Young referee Blessing Gyan, popularly known as “Labista,” who delivered a masterpiece performance as center referee throughout the game.
Right from kickoff, both teams approached the match with high intensity and aggressive attacking football, accompanied by hard tackles and end-to-end action that thrilled spectators.
FC Barca Kids opened the scoring in the 12th minute through Adumuah Dowouna wearing jersey number 15, who calmly finished to give his side the lead.
The early setback forced Dansoman Photofast into a tactical substitution, with Aaron Gbeti making way for Joseph Goddad as they searched for a way back into the contest.
Barca Kids continued to dominate possession and press forward, and their persistence paid off in the 35th minute when Kwesi Agbenyo in jersey number 20 doubled the advantage to make it 2-0 before halftime.
The first half ended with FC Barca Kids firmly in control after an impressive display of attacking football.
The second half resumed with Barca Kids once again taking the initiative as the game became even more entertaining with quality passing, agility and exciting moments from both sides.
Dansoman Photofast pulled one back in the 49th minute through Solomon Lamptey wearing jersey number 6, reigniting hopes of a comeback.
The goal brought life back into the game as Photofast mounted pressure in search of an equaliser, but despite their relentless efforts, FC Barca Kids remained resolute defensively and held on to their lead until the final whistle.

MIGHTY VICTORY MIGHTIER THAN YANKEES
The Accra West District Championship continued in thrilling fashion at the historic Liberty Park with an exciting U13 encounter between Mighty Victory and All Yankees which kicked off exactly at 9:00am.
The match was officiated by Catch Them Young referee Referee Allotey, who handled the game excellently from start to finish.
Both sides displayed exceptional football talent and determination, entertaining spectators with a thrilling performance full of energy, skill, and promising young stars.
It was Amazia Mensah wearing jersey number 20, who broke the deadlock in the 9th minute with a moment of individual brilliance to put Mighty Victory ahead.
Despite going behind, All Yankees responded positively and pushed hard for the equaliser, creating several attacking opportunities, but luck was not on their side as they failed to find the back of the net.
Mighty Victory doubled their advantage in the 14th minute through Emmanuel Tagoe in jersey number 10, finishing calmly to make it 2-0 before halftime.
The second half turned into a ding-dong affair as All Yankees intensified their search for goals, while Mighty Victory remained organised and disciplined at the back to protect their lead.
After a spirited contest, the referee brought proceedings to an end with Mighty Victory securing a deserved 2-0 victory over All Yankees.

With pride, bragging rights, and a coveted qualification slot to GARFA Division 2 on the line, this clash promises fireworks.
Both teams head into the final in blistering form, having dominated their respective groups with perfect records. Soccer Bridge showcased discipline and attacking efficiency to top their group, winning both matches convincingly.
