Rugby Rising Play Greater Accra Festival 🏉

On 1st April, the Rugby Rising Play Greater Accra Festival successfully held in the Weija-Gbawe Municipality, brought together over 350 girls in a powerful celebration of sport, education, and empowerment.

The program focused on developing young girls through rugby, promoting confidence, discipline, teamwork, and leadership both on and off the field.

Reproductive and menstrual health sessions were delivered by Victoria N. Mensah (Public Health Nurse) and Stella Odoom from Gbawe Health Centre, equipping participants with essential knowledge on personal health and informed decision-making.

The rugby session was led by Rachel Ankomah, alongside Samira Mensah and Moses Agbenu, providing an engaging and practical introduction to the game.

The event was supported by Matilda Clottey (Municipal Sports Director), as well as dedicated teachers including Dankyi Ernest Owusu, Isiffu Musah, Suleman Baba, Michael Bansar, and Teddy Pokoo, highlighting strong institutional support.

We extend our sincere appreciation to all partners, sponsors, and stakeholders whose support made this impactful initiative possible.
Special thanks to Coach Collin for the generous donation of kits and equipment to the schools.

Overall, the festival successfully combined rugby, health education, and community collaboration to empower the next generation of girls.

Rugby Rising Play Ghana- Northern Region

On 31st March 2026, the Northern Region Rugby Association successfully organized the Rugby Rising Program at Bagabaga Demonstration JHS A Park, bringing together over 200 girls from Bagabaga Demonstration Schools (A, B & C).

The program focused on empowering young girls through rugby and education, promoting discipline, teamwork, confidence, and respect.

Training sessions were led by Coach Musah Hudu, with support from Mohammed Abdul Jalil, as participants were taken through basic rugby skills and team-building activities.

A key highlight was the insightful session by Madam Asmawu Zakaria of Tamale Central Hospital, who educated the girls on menstrual health and teenage pregnancy, equipping them with essential knowledge for informed decision-making.

The event was also graced by Mr. Dennis from the National Sports Authority, alongside head teachers of the participating schools, demonstrating strong institutional support for youth and sports development.

Students received hats, sports bras, sanitary pads (Sentry), Kivo products, and refreshments.

Overall, the program was highly impactful; successfully combining sport and health education to empower young girls both on and off the field.

The Association sincerely thanks all students, school authorities, health professionals, volunteers, and partners who made this programme possible.
