🇲🇦 Mohamed Ouahbi’s Morocco story began long before this World Cup.

When Morocco reached the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup, his predecessor Walid Regragui became the face of a generation that made history.

Four years later, Morocco are here now under a very different kind of coach.

Ouahbi was born in Belgium, built much of his career in youth football there, including in Anderlecht’s youth setup, and later made his mark with Morocco’s U20 side.

In 2025, he led Morocco to the U20 World Cup title in Chile, beating Argentina 2-0 in the final. It was Morocco’s first ever U20 world title, built on a run that included wins over Spain, Brazil and France before the final.

He took charge of the senior team in March 2026, after Morocco parted ways with Regragui, with little time left before the World Cup.

Ouahbi does not want Morocco to play like underdogs. They are ranked sixth in the world, and he wants them to play like a team that knows exactly where Moroccan football now stands.
