Gibraltar’s Ocean Village marina is delivering a solution to this challenge – new Premier Berths. The Award-winning marina has grown from 225 berths to 323 berths starting from 12 metres (39ft) in length with a draft of 4.5 metres (15ft). A labour of love for the captain and small team of crew members to use traditional handling skills, maintain the woodwork and internal systems.
Originally built in 1939 as a Commercial vessel, the previous incarnation was scuttled in the Bay of Naples to prevent her being requisitioned for the war effort.
She was refloated in 1945 and converted to a private yacht in the 1960s with twin Gardner 8L3B 24 litre engines.
Since then she has been extensively re-planked by master craftsmen using traditional methods.
