Nemo Thomsen har skrevet under på en fuldtidskontrakt med FC Fredericia. Det er ikke blot en personlig triumf for den unge grønlandske spiller – det er et historisk øjeblik for grønlandsk fodbold.

Aldrig før har mulighederne for grønlandske spillere været større. Med et grønlandsk landshold under opbygning og en ny generation af talentfulde spillere, der markerer sig uden for landets grænser, er grønlandsk fodbold i en udvikling, som få havde forestillet sig for blot få år siden.

Nemo Thomsen bliver nu et symbol på, at talent fra Grønland kan føre til en professionel karriere. Hans rejse viser unge spillere i hele landet, at vejen til elitefodbold ikke længere er en fjern drøm, men en reel mulighed.

Mathias Mac Christiansen har etableret sig med stor succes i norsk fodbold hos Aalesund. Samtidig udvikler både Adam Ejler Hansen og Malik Jensen sig i dansk fodbold, hvor de spiller i henholdsvis i Holbæk og Oure Svendborg i 3. division. Sammen repræsenterer de en ny generation af grønlandske spillere, som bryder barrierer og viser, at grønlandske talenter kan konkurrere på et højt internationalt niveau efter grønlandske tilstande.

Hvis Grønland ønsker at udvikle endnu flere professionelle fodboldspillere og samtidig styrke folkesundhed, fællesskab og internationale muligheder for unge, kræver det investeringer i moderne faciliteter.

Opførelsen af flere airdomes vil give børn og unge mulighed for at træne året rundt – uanset vejret. Det vil hæve træningskvaliteten markant og skabe langt bedre udviklingsmuligheder for de mange talentfulde spillere, som findes over hele Grønland.

Nemo Thomsen er et bevis på, hvad der kan lade sig gøre.

Spørgsmålet er nu, hvor mange flere Nemo'er Grønland har, som blot mangler de rette rammer for at folde deres talent ud.

En inspiration for en hel nation

Mathias Mac Christiansen has established himself with great success in Norwegian football at Aalesund. At the same time, both Adam Ejler Hansen and Malik Jensen are developing in Danish football, where they play for Holbæk and Oure Svendborg in the 3rd division respectively. The question now is how many more Nemos Greenland has, who simply lack the right framework to unfold their talent.
