Yesterday’s coworkers have four legs, lots of fur, and plenty of personality 🐕😆

Meet the Greenlandic sled dog, one of the world’s oldest dog breeds and a very special part of Greenlandic culture.

For generations, these dogs have helped people travel, hunt, and move across the Arctic. And here in Qeqertarsuaq, that tradition is still very much alive today.

During our Greenlandic Dog Meeting, you can:

Discover Kuannit on foot with a local guide 🥾🌿

Join us on a guided hike from Qeqertarsuaq and experience some of the landscapes that make Disko Island so special.

We follow the coastline towards Kuannit, where impressive basalt columns, Arctic vegetation, mountains, and the waters of Disko Bay come together. From Kuannit, we continue towards Qorlortorsuaq waterfall before making our way back to town.

Along the trail, there is always something to discover, icebergs drifting offshore, seabirds along the coast, and sometimes even whales or seals in the distance. 🐋

With a local guide leading the way, you’ll also learn more about the geology, nature, traditions, and stories connected to the area.

🌊 Not every day is mirror calm, but every day has its own adventure.

Today's journey to Kuannit brought a few small waves, plenty of smiles, and unforgettable views along the spectacular coastline of Disko Island.

We were lucky to share the experience with 12 guests in the kayaks and 2 guests enjoying the scenery from our support boat. Together, we explored one of our favorite places in Greenland.

Hans-Kristian grew up in Qeqertarsuaq and has spent years exploring the mountains, coastline, and backcountry of Disko Island. His passion for the outdoors, combined with his local knowledge, makes him a fantastic addition to the Disko Adventures team.

Whether hiking through the Arctic landscape or sharing stories about life in Greenland, Hans-Kristian loves helping guests experience Disko Island through local eyes.

An evening we'll remember for a long time.🐋

A calm humpback whale... black-legged kittiwakes dancing above the water... and the quiet beauty of Disko Bay.

After we stopped the engine, the whale approached peacefully and swam directly beneath our boat. Encounters like this are exactly why no two Sea Safaris are ever the same.

The welfare of the whales always comes first. We do everything we can to avoid disturbing their natural behaviour, movement, or feeding, allowing them to continue undisturbed.
