The Gambia Police Force has provided an update on the alleged murder of Mr. Yunusa Mbye, which occurred in Fajara on June 15, 2026.

Police confirmed that a post-mortem examination has been conducted and key evidential materials have been secured as part of the ongoing investigation.

Meanwhile, the suspect, Mamadou Bah, appeared before the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court on June 16, 2026, and was subsequently remanded at Mile II Central Prison. The case is expected to be transferred to the High Court due to jurisdictional requirements.

Police say investigations are continuing and have reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring justice is served through due process.

The Gambia Immigration Department (GID), in collaboration with APS, on 15 June 2026 began a nationwide tour of immigration stations, starting in Barra, North Bank Region.

Led by Superintendent Malang Marena and Inspector Sutay B. Bah, the initiative aims to strengthen institutional cooperation, improve service delivery, and expose officers to financial and welfare support services offered through partner institutions.

The tour also reinforces efforts to enhance revenue generation through efficient payment systems for national identity cards, permits, and other immigration-related services, while advancing GID’s commitment to improving staff welfare and operational efficiency through strategic partnerships.
