Two reasons why overtightening can affect brake smoothness, or even damage your brakes.
If you overtighten the brake clamps, you can deform the slave cylinder body and pinch the pistons. If you overtighten the bleed plug, you risk damaging the main body even though it seals with an O-ring.

What is tungsten disulfide, or WS2?
WS2 is a dry solid lubricant with a layered structure, and that is exactly why it works so well as a low-friction coating. On the ξ /ksi/ cycling slave cylinders, we use it inside the main bodies and also in our special seals grease to help keep the response fast and snappy.

If you want fast and snappy brake response, you have to fight friction everywhere.

That fight starts with proper tolerances, careful surface finishing, and then goes even further with an internal tungsten disulfide (WS2) coating inside the slave cylinder bodies.

That low-friction coating helps the pistons move as freely and as quickly as possible.

And then it continues during assembly and maintenance with our special seals grease, which is enhanced with tungsten disulfide (WS2) as well.

So this is not just about one trick or one material. It is a complete low-friction approach.

The goal is simple: smoother movement, faster return, and a snappier brake response.
