Πανσέληνος και Guru Purnima απόψε και, καθώς ορίζει η βαθιά στην Ινδία ριζωμένη παράδοση, αποτίεται σεβασμός στους guru, τους ανθρώπους που φώτισαν το δρόμο για να βρούμε τα πατήματά μας περπατώντας τον.
Προσωπικά δεν τα πήγαινα ποτέ καλά με τις αυθεντίες, με τους θρόνους, τις σχέσεις εξουσίας. Κι επειδή η λέξη και μόνο “guru” είναι αρκετά φορτισμένη με διάφορες στρεβλωτικές έννοιες, συνειδητά απέχω από τον χρωματισμό της ημέρας.
Οφείλω όμως -και είναι το ελάχιστο που μπορώ να κάνω- να αναφερθώ στη συνθήκη των αληθινών δασκάλων. Εκείνων με τη διαρκώς ανθρώπινη πλευρά, με τα πάθη και τις αγωνίες του κόσμου μας, αλλά και ταυτόχρονα με μια σταθερά υπερβατική θέση έξω απ’ αυτόν.
Αληθινός, λοιπόν, είναι ο δάσκαλος εκείνος που
εξακολουθεί να διδάσκει κυρίως όταν δεν είναι παρών. Εκείνος που μπορεί να διακρίνει μες στο εντός σου θολό τοπίο τη δυνατότητα της υπέρβασης. Εκείνος που εμφανίζεται πάνω στην ανάγκη, βγαίνει μπροστά με το παράδειγμά του κι ύστερα αποσύρεται σιωπηλά για να περάσεις, μέχρι να μην τον χρειάζεσαι πια. Τέλος, είναι εκείνος που διαμορφώνει αληθινούς μαθητές. Mαθητές που κατορθώνουν ως προϋπόθεση να παραμερίσουν το «εγώ» τους ως δεκτικοί εξερευνητές του αγνώστου.
Τέτοιοι δάσκαλοι δεν μπορούν να ξεχαστούν με τίποτα. Κι όση ευγνωμοσύνη κι αν νιώθεις δεν μπορείς ποτέ να την εκφράσεις με τα λόγια.
Έχω ευτυχήσει σ’ αυτή την ζωή να υπάρχει αυτός ο άνθρωπος που πληροί όλα τα παραπάνω κι άλλα πολλά που δεν μπορούν να αποτυπωθούν με λέξεις.

My chaotic Sunday practice.

Nobody really knows me.

Nobody knows that I can dance (although I often catch myself unconsciously copying my father's moves).

Nobody knows that I can sing (although my choir teacher doesn't know whether I sing high or low)

Nobody knows that I write poem letters (although the recipient has never read them).

Nobody really knows so many other aspects of mine.
Seems that I still manage to maintain this privilege, so that I can potentially always be anyone.

At this moment, nothing else from our futile pitty lives seems to matter.

Yoga, our place in that "civilized" society, the way we treat a person, our words, even our silence, whether we realize it or not, constitute a political act.

We have to speak out.
