It was a blustery old day in the Cheviots today! ๐ŸŒฌ๐Ÿ˜Ž Great fun though, and strong performances from the group given the conditions over multiple ascents! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘
I was certainly well fed, with delicious home baked brownies and flapjack on the go - it's a tough job, but someone's got to do it! ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

A great day of Association of Mountaineering Instructors CPD in the Lakes yesterday. I attended the 'Beyond the hanger' bolting workshop delivered by Dan Robinson and gained a stack of new knowledge. It was also good to hear about current developments and plans happening in Cumbria (& beyond). ๐Ÿง—โ€โ™€๏ธโค๏ธ

A few pics from a fantastic day in the Lakes yesterday; introducing Lee-Ann to the joys of scrambling. Lot's of skill and knowledge development and it was an absolute pleasure to share a rope, and a quality day on the fells, with Lee-Ann - who performed brilliantly throughout. ๐Ÿ”โค๏ธ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

A few photos from a cracking day at Berryhill Crag yesterday, delivering a session for Patrizia Hobbs and Majid focused on fine-tuning trad climbing skills. Great performances all-round and it was lovely to catch up with Patrizia and Majid on such a stunning day in North Northumberland. ๐Ÿ”๐Ÿง—โ€โ™€๏ธ๐ŸŒžโค๏ธ๐Ÿ˜Ž

I have some availability through August and September. If anyone would like to book a session, or would like more information about my provision, please feel free to drop me a dm with your email address. Hopefully the great conditions on the crags at the moment continue for a while yet! ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

My work regularly takes me to some lovely corners of the UK. Yesterday was one of those days. It started at Whitby, before spending time in the stunning valley of Langdale End. Next I visited the River Esk before ending the day in beautiful Swaledale. A grand day of AALA inspection work spent in and across Yorkshire. And a few pics from last week too - instructing in Glencoe, Kinlochleven and Oban. ๐Ÿ”๐Ÿง—โ€โ™€๏ธโค๏ธ

It feels quite poignant that this photo flashed up on my FB memories today, not long after I saw a post saying the Matterhorn is essentially closed at the moment. Excessive heat and lack of freeze is resulting in hazardous rockfall on the mountain (even more than normal!).
It's no big surprise after seeing a photo last week which showed the North face cascading like a giant waterfall. I'm so pleased that I did my many trips to the Alps back when I did.
It's clear that Alpine climbing conditions continue to become increasingly risky each year. You won't find many of us who are old enough to have had the privilege of travelling to the great mountain ranges around the world over a number of decades denying climate change and global warming. We've literally seen the glaciers retreating and the mountains crumbling in our lifetime. Maybe deniers and sceptics need to get out more! ๐Ÿ˜”
