Can the students tie up their topic into a game bundle with specific objectives in less than 3 days? The answer is a resounding YES!

We are honored to finalize our participation as invited experts by Berufliche Schulen Bretten within the folds of the Erasmus+ Programme and the project with title European Values and Skills and code 2025-1-DE02-KA121-VET-000324832 on the topic of game based learning.

Following the methodologies contained within the draft handbook of our project Game Design for Education, the students developed, digitized and then prototyped no less than 5 draft board games, using digital tools and prompting AI to speed up the process and achieve the impossible.

The projects were then presented in short via online means to mr. Anastasios Grigoriadis of Rhapsody Games and Epitrapezio where he was able to confirm that each game served its chosen topics, and provided valuable feedback on improvements for the students who want to keep developing their drafts post-workshop.

At the end of the workshop, the students evaluated the sessions, and the exit polls indictate: thumbs up!

The 3-day workshop started today, with great participation and the students have already started to create games on the five chosen topics of Media literacy and citizenship, AI technology, wellbeing awareness, entrepreneurship & lean business and suitability & climate change.

Additionally, during the workshop our trainers utilize the draft methodology of our project Game Design for Education to promote the knowledge of designing to the students.

Let's see what fruits it will bear!

🎲 What did participants think about the GDE mobility in Portugal? 🇵🇹🇪🇺

During the international mobility of our Erasmus+ project Game Design for Education (GDE), participants had the chance to explore the project handbook and put its methodologies into practice.

Throughout the mobility, they worked in teams to develop educational game ideas, define target groups and learning objectives, test their first prototypes, and exchange feedback with one another. Their reflections helped us understand how the handbook can support educators, trainers, and game designers in creating meaningful learning experiences through games.

The GDE project, coordinated by Dracon Rules Design Studio, aims to develop a practical and inclusive handbook for adapting and designing games for education, while also promoting creativity, diversity, and accessibility in the game design field.

Watch the video to hear what participants had to say about the mobility and the handbook! 🎥✨

As part of our Erasmus+ project Game Design for Education, Day 3 of the mobility was all about moving from ideas to playable concepts 🎲🇪🇺

Participants continued exploring how games can be designed and adapted for educational purposes, finalizing the first draft versions of their games with guidance from experienced designers.

Each group presented its game idea to the others, explaining the learning goals, mechanics, target groups, and the topics behind their concept.
Then came the fun part: playtesting 😄

Participants played each other’s games, tested the rules, shared comments, asked questions, and collected feedback for improvement.

Rules were adjusted, ideas evolved, and a few “wait… how do we win?” moments definitely happened.
That’s educational game design in action! ✨

Day 2 of the Game Design for Education mobility 🎲✨

After exploring the handbook, participants moved into creation mode — working in groups around themes such as inclusion, equality, environment, media literacy, democracy, and social issues.

Using the GDE handbook and templates, each team discussed target groups, real challenges, and possible learning goals, shaping the first concepts for their educational games.

From ideas to prototypes — one step closer to testing! 👀🇪🇺

Day 1 of the Game Design for Education mobility 🎲🇪🇺
We started the mobility with an inspiring first day dedicated to teamwork, exchange, and project planning 🤝✨
The consortium came together to discuss the project details, align the next steps, and prepare for the activities ahead 💻📚
Afterwards, participants explored the contents of the GDE handbook through an interactive presentation, with time for questions, discussions, and case study examples connected to each topic 🧩💡
A great start to our mobility — full of ideas, collaboration, and educational game design in action! 🚀🎲

Game Design for Education is no small task. The interest in it is great, both by professional game designers who want to offer something more to the world, to aspiring game designers (especially from the educational sector) who want to create games for education, inclusion, socialization.

🇪🇺 Our project Game Design for Education - A handbook to detail experiential methodologies and strategies to adapt and design games for Education with code 2025-1-EL01-KA210-VET-000357836 under the Erasmus+ fold is now progressing to the first "testing" stages!

🇵🇹 The team will assemble in Portugal, accompanied by members of the target groups, and will take advantage of the resources of Universidade Lusófona - Centro Universitário Lisboa to approach students of the game design and relevant departments, and test out how the handbook is received!

This project aims to develop a practical handbook for game designers and educators, supporting the transition of game design into education while promoting inclusion, diversity and innovation across Europe.

Stay tuned for updates from Lisbon 🙏 and follow our social media and the website for more updates! (link in comments)

🏅 Our project "GreenChef: Gamifying sustainable cooking and environmental education" with code 2023-2-HU01-KA210-VET-000181362 which was conducted as part of the Erasmus+ Programme, was awarded the "Good Practice" label by the National Agency of Hungary.

The project was the combined work of the coordinator & sustainability leader Climate Smart Elephant in Hungary, the experts in the culirary arts HRC Culinary Academy in Bulgaria and the game designers Dracon Rules Design Studio in Greece.

The project had many stages:
🔍 the research phase, where the sustainability and culinary partners produced the necessary educational and constrictual elements of the topic.
🎲 the game design phase, where the game design partner created the draft of the game, and the consortium tested and refined it.
🎓 the implementation phase, where the consortium partners presented the game to relevant stakeholders to increase impact.

Throughout all stages, the consortium did:
📣 dissemination actions such as attending or organizing conferences and the project's Multiplier Events
📝 evaluation actions such as promoting the game to cullinary stakeholders or game stakeholders such as Epitrapezio contest, where the early stage feedback allowed for the improvement of the final version.

🎲🗳️ PLAYCRACY has officially rolled the dice in Arad! 🚀
🇪🇺
On 27–29 April 2026, Dracon Rules Design Studio joined Share Education and DYPALL Network in Arad 🇷🇴 for the International Training for Youth Workers of our Erasmus+ project:

During these three days, we worked together on the next level of the project:
🎯 how to use board games in youth work
🎲 adapting games for democracy education
💬 facilitation methods for civic dialogue
🧠 critical thinking and decision-making through play
🤝 testing ideas, exchanging methods, and preparing local activities

PLAYCRACY is about making democracy education less “sit and listen” and more “play, discuss, decide, and act.” 💡

Through board games, teamwork, and non-formal learning, we aim to create inclusive spaces where young people can develop:
💬 communication
🧠 critical thinking
🤝 cooperation
🗳️ active citizenship
🚀 confidence to participate
Huge thanks to our hosts in Arad and to all partners for the energy, ideas, and great teamwork! ✨
Next step: taking the games from the training room to young people in local communities. 🎲🚀

✨ PLAYCRACY – Game-based approaches for strengthening youth participation in democracy
