Leaning into those pelvic openers at 8 months! š¤°š¼
Weāre on the home straight now, and movement has become less about performance and more about purpose.
Iām not training for how I look in pictures. And my heart genuinely goes out to every woman scrolling through Instagram, surrounded by perfectly posed bumps and super-lean, super-fit pregnancies, wondering why her own body doesnāt look or perform the same. Pregnancy is hard enough without comparisonitis convincing us we should be doing more, looking different or somehow āpregnancy-ingā better. Most of us are just over here doing our best to keep going whilst bringing a whole human being into existence!
For me, movement right now is for my mental health as we head towards labour, and to maintain the strength, mobility and physical capability Iāll need to handle it.
Iām currently experiencing contractions on and off, day and night. They settle, restart and change in intensity - and this stop/start phase could potentially continue for weeks as my bicornuate (double) uterus (see last pic for my quirky bump shape!) contracts and my body gradually prepares for labour.
So for now, Iām listening carefully to my body and keeping things gentle:
⨠3 x light weight-training sessions a week to maintain muscle
š¶š¼āāļø Walking every day
⨠A little gentle cross-trainer work to keep my joints moving
š§š¼āāļø Daily pelvic-opening and mobility work
Food is equally simple - high protein to support babyās growth, carbs for energy, plenty of nutrient-dense fruit and veg, and some treats because balance matters too.
Iām mainly eating small, frequent meals (which trust me donāt look fancy!) because the pressure in my belly is INSANE and thereās very little room left - plus it helps keep the nighttime reflux at bay!
This home straight isnāt about pushing harder. Itās about staying mentally strong, physically capable and as prepared as I can be for whatever comes next. š¤

Throwback to 20 weeks pregnant (swipe for present day - yoga on my hospital bedroom floor!) when all I had to worry about was how to dress a bump when bikinis are all Iāve known for so long & what snacks to take to bed at night!
Iām now ALMOST at the 32 weeks milestone and hoping to be back at home from hospital with my little family again soon after 3 weeks of monitoring for preterm labourā¦then weāre on the home straight to become a family of 5!
If one thing life has taught me itās that the road to your dreams is never going to be a straight line & the most difficult journeys usually lead to the greatest destinations!
Wish me luck š š¤š

Last day of the challenge! Itās been a hell of a month but doing something that forced me to think outside of my own worries & away from the 4 hospital walls since I was admitted with threatened pre-term labour (still hanging in there at 31 weeks š) really helped with morale⦠never underestimate the power of a nice walk in nature!

Strength looks different in every season.
If youāre new here, Iām Laura - an online health & fitness coach & usually living on LAURA - ROSS - JOSH - NOAH + CATS šā⬠š with my husband, kids and cats in Greece!
Currentlyā¦Iām 30 weeks pregnant with our miracle baby after 2 preterm births (our gorgeous boys) & five previous pregnancy losses.
Just over a week ago, I went into preterm labour and Iām now in hospital, doing everything I can to keep this little one safely where they belong.
Looking back, strength training and intentional movement have carried me through every stage of this pregnancy. In the first trimester, they helped me navigate the anxiety that follows pregnancy loss & horrible morning sickness. In the second, they kept me strong enough to avoid the debilitating SPD that had me on crutches in previous pregnancies.
Now, strength means something completely different.
It means resting without guilt, trusting my body, and giving it exactly what it needs.
Fitness isnāt just about pushing harder - itās about building the strength & body thatās resilient enough to carry you through every season of life.
Sometimes the strongest thing you can do⦠is be still. ā¤ļø

Big Bump. Tiny Miracle. š¤
Currently living as an in-patient in hospital (swipe for reality check) while our little miracle keeps trying to make an early arrival. Thankfully, babe is still hanging on, and weāre taking each day as it comes. š
Anywayā¦The other day, one of the nurses asked how overdue I was š¤Ŗ, and quite a few people have wondered if Iām carrying twins! The reality couldnāt be more different.
I have a bicornuate uterus and an anterior placenta (where the placenta sits at the front), which together have given me one beautifully big baby bump.
Every pregnancy is different. Every body carries differently. A bigger bump doesnāt mean youāre further along, and a smaller bump doesnāt mean anything is wrong. The same goes for weight gain - pregnancy hormones affect us all differently, and we just have to let go and trust that our bodies know exactly what theyāre doing to support our babies.
So hereās me, choosing to celebrate rather than compare. This bump is growing, protecting and nurturing our little miracle⦠and I already know Iām going to miss it when itās gone. š¤
Be proud of your body and all itās capable of.
