U-Fly Edges UOG Tritons and Haggan Defeats UMITIDE In Two Close Matches

The Triton Men's Volleyball League opened their season on Tuesday night in the UOG Calvo Field House with two 5 set thrillers to start the season.

In the opener, U-Fly returned to the Triton League with a close victory over UOG Tritons. The Tritons opened with a tough 25-22 win over U-Fly in the first set. The set was close entire way, with neither team getting more than a 3 point lead, but UOG was able to get the final push and win 25-22.

U-Fly came back in the 2nd set and won by the exact same score and pretty much won in the same way, with final push won the set 25-22. UOG had spent themselves in the 2nd set and came out flat in the 3rd set and was routed by U-Fly 25-13 and U-Fly went up 2-1 in the match.

In the 4th set, the Tritons fell behind early, down 5-0 to U-Fly but dug out of the early hole and tied the match up and battled U-Fly tooth and nail and was able to win the set 25-23.

It came down to a final 5th set to 15. UOG came out and took an early 6-1 but U-Fly came back and tied the match at 6-6, but UOG took a 8-7 lead when the teams switched sides of the court. The teams were tied at 12-12 but one final push by U-Fly took them to a 15-12 win.

U-Fly is 1-0 on the season while the Tritons are 0-1.

In the night cap, Haggan started out looking like they would win the match easily, with a 25-12 win in the first set but UMITIDE showed what they were made of in the 2nd set and won 25-21 over the young HAGGAN squad.

With the match tied 1-1, UMITIDE won a close battled 27-25 and took a 2-1 lead. But HAGGAN came right back and won easily again the 4th set, 25-14 to send the match to the 15 point 5th set.

In another close set, UMITIDE was up 8-7 when the teams switched sides of the court but HAGGAN came back and won the set 15-13.

Lady Tritons Open Super League With Upset Loss To JusForFuns, Lady Nationals Cruise Over BallHers

The University of Guam Lady Tritons basketball team opened the season with high hopes after finishing 2nd in the spring season of 2026 of the Lady Triton Super League but fell to JusForFuns team 60-56. It was the first win for JusForFuns after 3 seasons in the Super League.

In the nightcap of the opening of the Super League, JusForFuns had brought in several new players to their squad after winning two games in the Super League Summer tournament back in July and JusForFuns jumped on Lady Tritons from the start. Bri Cruz scored 8 points in the first quarter to lead JusForFuns to a 15-11 lead in the first quarter while BG Arceo scored 7 in the 2nd quarter to give JusForFuns a 29-21 lead at halftime.

JusForFuns took control of the game in the 3rd period, outscoring the Lady Tritons 23-10 in the 3rd quarter to lead the game 52-31 going into the final 10 minutes.

The Lady Tritons would fall behind by 25 points early in the 4th period, but with a full court press, UOG would come back in the game. Cheyanna Movida and Mylie Navarro would get hot for the Tritons in the period as both scored 9 and 8 points respectively to lead the Lady Tritons back and come within 3 points with less than a minute to play, but JusForFuns would not be denied and held on for 60-56 point win.

JusForFuns were led by Arri Arceo and BG Arceo with 16 and 15 points each. Bri Cruz added 14 as well. Cheyanna Movida scored 17 for the Lady Tritons while Mylie Navarro added 14.

JusForFuns started the season at 1-0 while the Lady Tritons are 0-1.

In the opening game of the night, the Lady Nationals beat BallHers 94-21. The Lady Nationals only had 6 players for the game, but BallHers struggled on offense the whole night, not scoring in the 1st quarter to trail 21-0 after the first 10 minutes and 44-7 after halftime. Things did not get better in the 2nd half as the Lady Nationals outscored BallHers 50-14 in the final 20 minutes of the game.

Lana Quinata led the Lady Nationals with 25 points while Maya Torre added 19 points. Edrianna Lorenzo led BallHers with 6 points.

Lady Nationals are 1-0 on the young season while BallHers fell to 0-1.
