The Guyana Basketball Federation is proud to welcome Alan Walls as Head Coach of the Guyana Menβs National Team.
With more than 30 years of international coaching and basketball development experience across 17 countries and five continents, Coach Walls brings a wealth of knowledge, leadership, and a proven track record of success at every level of the game.
His accomplishments include leading Malta to back-to-back silver medals at the 2022 FIBA Championship for Small Countries and the 2023 Games of the Small States of Europe, while also contributing to the growth of basketball programs around the world.
As we continue our journey toward regional and international success, we are excited to begin this new chapter under Coach Wallsβ leadership.

The journey to the FIBA AmeriCup 2029 officially began with the successful launch of the Caribbean Pre-Qualifiers, set for July 8-12, 2026 at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall in Georgetown, Guyana.
The launch brought together key stakeholders, officials, and partners as plans were unveiled for a tournament that will feature 10 Caribbean nations, divided into 2 groups, all competing for 2 coveted qualification spots to the next stage of the AmeriCup pathway.
π¬πΎ Guyana is ready to welcome the region and showcase its passion for basketball on and off the court.
The stage is set. The teams are preparing. The countdown is on.

The official launch of the FIBA AmeriCup 2029 Caribbean Pre-Qualifiers β Guyana 2026 brought together key leaders committed to the continued growth of basketball in Guyana and across the Caribbean.

π£οΈ Michael Singh, President of the Guyana Basketball Federation, emphasized the opportunity for young players to witness and learn from high-level regional competition on home soil.

The Guyanese basketball community mourns the loss of Alfred Vivian McDonald Chapman (βAl Macβ), a legendary sports journalist and basketball pioneer. Al passed away on May 25 in Florida after a tragic fire.
