The Anana Cultural Group, hailing from the vibrant Mainstay/Whyaka Amerindian Village, made a remarkable appearance at the National Toshaos Council (NTC) Conference, held at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre. Their performance, a captivating dance entitled โThe Chief,โ was a highlight of the event, embodying the deep respect and reverence associated with blessing, crowning, and celebrating the Chief. As they performed, the Chief had the distinguished honor of greeting the President and other ministers of the government, creating a moment of cultural exchange and unity.
The performance was not only a celebration of the Chief but also an expression of the rich cultural heritage of the people. The groupโs dedication and artistry shone brightly, earning them the privilege of sharing lunch with the President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana President Irfaan Ali.During this special meal, the President expressed his appreciation by gifting each participant a token of gratitude, recognizing their extraordinary contribution to the NTC.
To the dance instructor Sir Trevon Pearson of the Anana Cultural Group, who worked tirelessly with the team, was filled with pride, seeing the fruits of their hard work and dedication come to life on such a grand stage. The instructorโs commitment to preserving and promoting the cultural traditions of their people was evident in every movement of the dance, making the performance a true triumph for the Anana Cultural Group.
