RFA'S STATEMENT||| ⚽️⚽️🥇🥈🥉

As we closed the 2025/2026 season, we must now welcome the 2026/2027 football season. Firstly, the RFA wishes to congratulate all the executive members of the RFA for their unwavering support and sacrifices made to ensure that football is administrated in a fair, transparent, competitive and in a accountable manner.

Being at the helm of rupununi football for only six months, the RFA have achieved tremendous reform, capacity building, structural strengthening, improved governance and significant outreaches. With the support from its membership and adherence to all football governing rules and regulations is key to greater heights, whereas, the technical aspect of football in the Rupununi is in dire need for football education in order for clubs, members and officials to improve and build their capacities.

The RFA intends to introduce a number of programmes that will aid in the development of Rupununi Football, not only on the field but off the field. We believe that sports and education goes hand-in-hand, not in the context of examinations, but in simplistic fashion that will enlighten our players, coaches, referees, officials, sponsors, stakeholders and football enthusiast.

The RFA under the Leadership of Mr. Shavez Hendricks has gained some positive grounds. For over 20 years there have been a neglect in youth football, no standard playing surfaces, lack of qualified coaches, referees-incompetence, disregard for the rules governing football and poor football governance. Within a six-months period we have seen the changes, we have seen progress. The RFA has done what is best for the sport and is ready to enforce and activate all relevant provisions outlined in the constitution to preserve and develop the Rupununi Football.

Under Mr. Hendricks leadership the RFA has successfully concluded the Child Safeguarding Worshop, Senior Women’s League 2026, Under 13 Youth Ensemble Tournament and the Under-15 Youth Ensemble Tournament on a high note. We will now endeavor into the new season of excitement, completed players transfers, club preparations, club investment, club commitments, club structures, and a hope for all, especially the young bunch.

The RFA stand neutral in all Political matters and is ready to work with the ruling administration to ensure that we better our sport, facilities and incentives and to ensure that all services provided meet the people. Football is intrinsic to the Rupununi culture and our hope is to preserve that very valued asset.

To the Regional Executive Officer Mr. Karl Singh, your contribution is well received, your leadership has impacted hundreds across the region. The RFA do look forward in partnering with your esteem office so that opportunities will be created and capitalized upon.

The Regional Chairwoman, Ms. Vania Edwards, your blessing and contribution is well received. Your presence has empowered our young girls and motivated them to participated from a grass-root to senior level. We do look forward to your continued support.

In the new season we will witness the Launch of the Senior Men’s Legue, Launch of the Under 17 Youth football programme, School football and women’s football.
