Champions Leagues continued on Saturday last at the St. Ignatius Community Centre ground in Region #9.
The female team maintained their unbeaten record when they were led to an exciting 3-2 win over Gladiators with the destructive Sonia Griffith netting all three goals. The males were in more devastating form when they swamped their counterparts from Gladiators 8-1, led by a hat-trick and a double from Captain Frankie Parks and David Coates respectively.
Griffith ensured that she sealed off the game for her side in the first half as all her goals were scored within the first 34 minutes. The experienced Griffith was on target in the 20th, 29th and 34th minutes. Despite an energised second half surge by Gladiators with two unanswered goals, St. Ignatius were able to keep them at bay thereby keeping their unbeaten record intact.
For Gladiators, which suffered their second loss in three matches, the goal scorers were Sasha Rodrigues in the 47th minute and Vandette Henry in the 55th minute.
In the male match, Parks rattled the Gladiators custodian with his first goal in the 17th minute and from that point it was a steady procession to restart the ball goal after goal. Parks was again on the score sheet in the 38th and 59th minutes.
Coates had his say in the 52nd and 81st minute, while there was one each from Phillipe Zavier in the 19th minute, Ken Grant in the 55th and Chadwick Torres in the 80th minute. Carlos De Santos netted a consolation goal for Gladiators in the 31st minute.
