The Honorable Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport visited the Skeldon Estate Community Centre to meet with community members and inspect the lighting facilities.
During the visit, the Minister listened attentively to the concerns and suggestions raised by residents. Several issues were highlighted, particularly regarding access to the facility and the need for improved resources to support community activities.
In response, the Minister agreed to extend the opening hours of the centre, allowing members of the community to make use of the facility during the evening. This decision was warmly welcomed by those present, as it will provide greater opportunities for recreation and organized events.
Additionally, the Minister committed to providing a roller to the centre in the near future, which will assist in maintaining the ground and improving its overall condition.
The community expressed appreciation for the Minister’s visit and his willingness to address their concerns and support the continued development of the facility.

The Berbice Cricket Board successfully hosted a two-day Cricket Academy for junior cricketers on the Upper Corentyne.
The programme included both indoor classroom sessions as well as outdoor practical training, giving the young players an opportunity to develop their knowledge of the game and improve their skills.
This initiative forms part of the Board’s ongoing efforts to promote cricket at the grassroots level and to provide junior cricketers with the guidance and exposure needed to excel in the sport.

Minister Charles Ramson Pledges Support for Skeldon Estate Community Centre
The Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Hon. Charles Ramson Jr., visited the Skeldon Estate Community Centre Ground, where he made several key commitments to enhance the facility and promote youth development in the area.
During his visit, Minister Ramson pledged to install floodlights around the ground, a move aimed at facilitating evening sports activities and encouraging greater community engagement. He also committed to repairing the perimeter fence, ensuring the safety and security of the facility for all users.
In addition to these infrastructure upgrades, the Minister presented the Centre with a donation of sporting equipment, including cricket bats, balls, rackets, footballs and other gear to support a variety of athletic activities. These donations are expected to benefit local youth and encourage increased participation in sports.
Minister Ramson further announced that the Centre would soon be equipped with internet access. This development will open up new opportunities for education, communication and digital engagement within the community.
The Minister’s visit was well received by residents, who expressed appreciation for the government's continued investment in youth and community development.
