My time in Hong Kong (2016-2021) holds a very fond place in my heart. From setting up Neon Lights Ltd with , to performing with incredibly talented performers, to co-founding the inspirational SEN Choir, I look back on this time with pride and joy.
Through Neon Lights, Nicholas and I led workshops and masterclasses, and I spearheaded a thriving voice coaching business.
The SEN Choir, co-founded with Angela Watkins, was made up of teens and young adults with Special Educational Needs. They surpassed all expectations by performing complex harmonies with aplomb!
My students sang in concerts and recitals, and I performed in various musicals and cabarets. I loved every second of it!

Well, how do I begin to write about one of the proudest moments of my professional career?!
On Monday, I had the privilege of seeing some of my amazing students from perform at the grand reopening of the , alongside huge talent and legends of the theatre (including Dan Truhitte, then original Rolf from the Sound of Music!)
Special thanks to for nurturing and supporting these wonderful young people, and for sharing your expertise with them!
Huge thanks to , and for everything you do with Theatre Gap Initiative, and for inviting me to collaborate on this once in a lifetime opportunity.
In addition to supporting Ariana in singing This Wish, the students also performed Somewhere from West Side Story. This song is usually for solo voice, but after collaboration with Corey, I arranged a new adaptation for SATB, which was then beautifully orchestrated by . This was a feat, having not arranged or composed for many years, and I could not be happier with the end result!
Big thanks also go to:
- The orchestra and their conductor
- , choreographer
- , director of the gala
- Michael Marsicano, for spearheading the renovation
- all of the front of house and tech staff at the Carolina Theatre

New blog!
I am always in awe of those who speak more than one language. Having worked in Hong Kong and Dubai for a number of years, my experience with non-native English speakers is extensive, and I have found that confidence levels in these individuals can be boosted hugely in even one coaching session. Their concerns are rarely due to their command of the language, but the pronunciation of a few key sounds.
