In the process of ascension, what we need is honoring and aligning with our soul nature- freedom, joy, spontaneous, introspective, intuitive, self sovereignty, loving, honest, telepathic, connecting to others and Nature, gratitude, abundance, expressive, accepting, longevity. This is our inner journey home.

My first yoga class was 15 years back 😂 and I didn’t like that Yin yoga class at all. Poses were held so long and I felt it was boring.

My first time learnt about Ayurveda was 4 years ago but I didn’t appreciate the wisdom. I just had so much on my plate - the studio, fancy impressive postures, my career - they were all waiting for me to achieve and get done.

The unlearning process has opened up and changed my perception and perspective. And my perception will alway evolve - what I feel isn’t to be something more advanced or more intellectual but more native and what I am born to be.

And now both Ayurveda & Yoga become part of my life path and the tools to live a high consciousness life - how can I honour my Divinity while celebrating my earthly experiences.

What If I had never known anything about Ayurveda, or if I didn’t follow through with my soul-awakening practice:

❤️‍🩹 I would, indeed, still self-doubt everyday and go after more recognition
💔 I would still be in the restless mode, until my body breaks down badly
❤️‍🩹 I would perhaps suffer from chronic burnout, energy depletion, and severe anxiety
💔 I would probably think being sick is normal
❤️‍🩹 I would still think teaching yoga or working is my very purpose for being alive
🌳 I would have forgotten my root - with the Nature & Cosmos
🤍 I wouldn’t realize the only purpose of living is to know the Creator and understand our relationship with That
💜 I wouldn’t know soul-care is the best self-care
🤍 I wouldn’t trust Divine Timing
💜 I wouldn’t believe I am the safe-guard and safe-keeper of my health

In the first couple of years of my teaching journey, I tried to be “better” in many ways- do better in asanas, do more marketing for the studio, recruit more students, and expect to be appreciated more. But none of these make me feel better actually. Instead, the more I tried to be better, the more I desire to be better. It’s like somewhere I could never get to.

And after all these years, I realized the real thing is not that I have to be better, but to BE. Being aligned with my true identity - not the title that as a yoga teacher - part of God. Being aligned with my Nature - not the victimizing, doubting, seeking approval qualities - the ever-flowing with trust and faith qualities. Being aligned with my Dharma - not a job to prove how worthy I am - the big reason why I am here.

In the pacifying yoga class, we focus on creating a cooling, calming yet playing practice. Pitta is intelligent but sometimes can be intense and goal-oriented. Practice in a relaxed effort is the key to enjoy and have fun!

Using yoga poses, such as twist, gentle backbends and poses that can compress the abdomen, to release accumulated heat in the body.

pranayama also effective to tone down the agitated mind when the receptive and surrendering energy is facilitated.

𝔾𝕖𝕥 𝕦𝕡𝕤𝕚𝕕𝕖 𝕕𝕠𝕨𝕟 𝕠𝕣 𝕟𝕠𝕥?

When life is stuck, it may feel great to do headstand to see the world in a different perspective. The upside down action facilitates the Udana-Vayu, which means the prana moves upward from the heart to the head, five senses, brain and the nervous system. The nervous system is governed by Vata dosha- the combination of Air & Ether- which helps in self-expression, communication, thinking & creativity.

People who are strongly predominated by Vata doshas may find headstand, handstand, or inversions without support could push to imbalanced state. Possibly causing more activities in the brain, excessive thinking/ speaking, too spacious in the head, anxiety, worries. To bring more mental clarity, calmness and groundiness to Vata people, standing balancing poses is a good choice.

Pitta should avoid holding inversions for too long as this might create heat in the head as they are already very hot headed!

Kapha could be benefited the most from inversions. It helps to uplift and revitalize heavy kapha dosha. Inversions also stimulate circulation and help bring a feeling of lightness to the body.

Ayurveda is Yoga’s sister science. Different yoga poses work do not only work on the physical plane but bring certain effect to the suntle anatomy. Knowing such can help us find balance, optimal health, and even help you become your highest self!

The next morning after the Thursday evening class, a student shared with me that she slept surprisingly well “I have not been sleeping well for months and have been so fatigued / tired, sleeping almost 10 hours and still exhausted when I wake up after my alarm rings. Last night was the first time I slept really well in a long time. I feel very alert and energetic this morning, and didn’t even need my alarm! Crazy!”

I am not posting to take credit but to emphasize why a BALANCED yoga practice matters. What make a balanced yoga practice? Possibly the poses, the sequence of the poses, how the poses are being instructed, what’s the time of the year, time of the day, the environment of practice etc. There is no one single factor but a whole bunch of factors coming together to allow healing happen. I believe yoga is a healing process bring us to the untouched pure light.

We are all a devotee of something. When we spend most of the time, effort, and energy to such certain thing, object, person, relationship, belief, etc, we become a devotee of it.

- Are you aware of what you most contributed to?
- Are you aware of how you feel when you contribute?
- Are you aware of the effects (physically, emotionally, mentally etc) of such contribution?
- Become a devotee of such, does it support your health and wellness?

Make some qualitative time with yourself, make a journal and find out what create your life. I have done this with myself and probably you will be surprised some of the thoughts and behaviours being spent most of the time on are not beneficial to creating a health and abundance life.
