A Star Rises: Coleman Cracks the Top 100 with a Historic Charge to the Semifinals!🔥 🎾

From upsetting top seeds to making history - Wong Chak Lam, Coleman (黃澤林) is absolutely on fire at the ATP 250 Los Cabos Open! 💪🎾

After dropping the first set against World No. 12 Jiří Lehečka, Coleman showed incredible grit - saving a crucial break point early in the second, shifting the momentum, and battling back to win 1-6, 6-3, 6-4! 🔥

He carried that confidence straight into the quarterfinals, beating World No. 77 Jenson Brooksby 6-1, 7-5 - breaking serve three times and saving all four break points he faced. 💥

✨ Milestones unlocked:
✅ History Made: First player from Hong Kong, China to break into the Top 100!
✅ Career First: First ATP 250 semifinal of his career!

🥈✨ Making History at the 2026 Fencing World Championships!

Huge congratulations to HKU elite athlete Ryan Choi (蔡俊彦)and the Hong Kong, China Men’s Foil Team — Cheung Ka Long, Ho Shing Him Harris, and Leung Chin Yu — on capturing a historic World Championship silver medal in the men’s team foil event! 🤺🔥  

In a heart‑stopping final, the team narrowly fell to Italy 44–45, missing gold by just one touch — a performance that showcased incredible determination and world‑class resilience.

Ryan fought through the competition carrying a leg injury, yet still gave everything on the piste. This silver medal was earned through immense courage, sacrifice, and heart. 💪🏼  

As TeamHKU, we stand firmly behind you Ryan Choi — not just in victory, but in every challenge. Champions are not defined by a single touch, but by their perseverance, character and fighting spirit. We are so proud of you, and we will support you all the way✨

This scholarship offers you the opportunity to join a community🤗 that celebrates athletic talent, leadership, and the power of sport to unite individuals. You must meet all three of these criteria:

✅ You have been nominated by the Centre for Sports and Exercise as an HKU Sports Scholar
✅ You are excited to get involved in college life and share your passion with fellow students

As part of the HKU Media Summer School Programme, we welcomed 40 students for an inspiring and action‑packed afternoon at HKU 💪🔥From training to storytelling, the experience went beyond the classroom.

Participants rotated between:
🏋️‍♂️ B‑Active Fitness Centre Experience — stepping into the training ground of HKU student‑athletes
🎤 Sports Scholars Sharing Session — hearing real, unfiltered stories from the front lines of sport

👑Crowned in Gold — A Historic Double Victory! ⚽️

Congratulations to our Men’s and Women’s Soccer Teams on capturing 1st Place — our first-ever titles in this competition — at the 2025–26 Jockey Club Futsal Cup (Higher Education Division)!

Both teams secured thrilling 3–2 victories in their respective finals — with the Men’s team defeating CUHK and the Women’s team overcoming PolyU in intense battles to the finish.

🥈Silver at the Asian Stage 🏃

Congratulations to our sports scholar Magnus, together with teammates James CHAN, Cheung Hung CHENG, and Tsz Sing CHUNG on securing 2nd Place in the Men’s 4 × 100m Relay at the 1st Asian U23 Athletics Championships 2026, finishing with an impressive time of 38.88 seconds.

Competing against top athletes across Asia, the team delivered a remarkable performance defined by speed, precision, and teamwork. This podium finish is a true testament to their dedication and pursuit of excellence.

👏 We also extend our congratulations to all our sports scholars who competed at the Championships, including Chloe, Rina, Vic, for representing the Hong Kong China with pride and determination.

Massive congratulations to Joelle Wong for an incredible showing at the ITTF World Para Elite Beijing 2026 🏓✨

She topped her group in the Women’s WS7 Singles, advancing to the semifinals with an outstanding undefeated record 💪🌟 and securing a bronze medal for Team Hong Kong China🥉

Teaming up with Chiu Kan Shan in the Women’s Doubles WD14, the duo once again dominated the group stage with three straight wins ⚡ and fought hard in a thrilling semifinal to claim another bronze medal 👏✨

Games on Saturday were nail-biting — we led, got overtaken, then fought our way back to reclaim the lead. Pure heart. Pure HKU🔥 And here’s the best part — the last time we brought home both Men’s and Women’s 1st place titles was 2020–2021. After years of hard work, we’re back where we belong. 👑
